Is there any way to change the display temp on a tstate?
I want it to read a couple degrees higher than the set temp.

Depends on the thermostat. Mine do have that feature. What brand is yours? Can you check out their website? Some have downloadable owners manuals available.

Damn, that's funny right there! Both of you are married. I can tell.....:D

HA its worse than that . I got up this morning after tosing and turning in the " sauna " all night and my " mother inlaw " is in the living room and says " whatever you have the heat set at now is perfect I didnt even need my little heater last night " :wtf:. Great glad your comfy I am going to start sleeping in the damn garage where I can at least breath at night :D. 76 friken degrees really . The sad part is the lot of them will be complaining its hot in 6 months if the stat is still set at 76*.

Reminds me of the story about a church that hired a new janitor. The old janitor was taking the new man around and showing him the building. The new man noticed that the HVAC system was modern and well-maintained and had a nice fancy thermostat in the main foyer and sactuary.

The last room the men toured was the janitor's closet. The new man noticed that there were two thermostats on the wall in the closet. This confused the new man, so he asked what the two t-stats were for in the closet. The old janitor replied, "These are the thermostats that actually control the temperature of the building. The ones you saw in the foyer and sanctuary are not contolling anything and are in place only to keep the people happy that insist on adjusting the thermostat."

That is a GREAT idea. I think I will implement something like that at work. We get (mostly female staff) cranking it way up or way down (depending on the season) even though the furnace or A/C is already on because the perception seems to be that the higher (or lower) you turn it, the faster it will heat (or cool).
Came in one cold Monday morning to find that the Saturday staff decided it was too hot so they shut the furnace off.........then forgot to turn it back on.......lets just say the florescent lights were dim and flickered terribly for the first hour or so.........good thing it wasn't a long weekend or there would have been some burst pipes and some 'splainin' to do!!

If you have one of the old style round ones thats really just a mercury switch if they are not level it will read and trigger a different temp.

I got tired of playing the t-stat game in my house. All i have in plain view is a remote sensor, stat is hidden.
