A few months ago, I picked up a 1952 Delta heavy duty wood shaper. It's in great shape, but needed some general restoration, to include new motor bearings, rubber bushings, etc. Today I replaced the power cord. I stopped by Lowes and got 16 feet of 12/3 cable. I needed something to cut it with, so a little further down the electrical aisle, I found the cable cutters. There were three brands on the hooks, one from china (at eye level), a green handled type from japan (at waist level), and the 911 model Channel locks (at the bottom). They were all within one dollar of each other in price. China was the cheapest, Channel Locks the most. I didn't even hesitate - Channel Locks all the way. I have to admit that I was a little pissed off to see the china brand displayed at eye level and the Channel Locks almost out of sight. I'm not buying that **** from china, or japan. I'll spend the extra buck for a tool manufactured in the USA.

Anyway, the Channel Locks worked wonderfully. No problems, they cut clean, like going through butter. Highly recommended.

Glad the Channellocks are working out for you; they are excellent tools for a very reasonable price and represent tremendous value.

However, Japan & China are hardly the same thing and are in no way comparable. You would be very hard-pressed to find a crappy product from Japan.

Japan was my second choice if there was nothing made in the USA. Well, actually, it wasn't. I would have gone some where else and still bought the Channel Locks!!!! :)

The highest profit margin item will always be the most convenient. Just remember, the super low cost of the Chinese made item with near domestic price at the register are NOT corporate greed.:D
