Recently picked up twp pairs of Channel Locks in a lot of tools I purchased. An older stamped logo 338 dykes as well as 350S iron workers pliers. I am of the opinion they should be warrantied as there are two chips/gouges in the jaws of each pair. However, I'm interested in your no holds barred opinions. Normal wear and tear, abuse or eligible for warranty?

They tell you not to cut live wires with these things. The prior owner may not be alive. There should be no warranty on that as it is absolute abuse. I would never even try.

I would think they might be able to be warrantied.

My favorite pair of sidecuts was channel lock brand. I am still sad that I lost those suckers. I have looked every where for them and still can't find them.

No reaction or fun at all, it is knowledge I pursue. Was wondering how they could have gotten so beat up. Cutting live wires is a good possibility. Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

Yeah, someone has clearly been welding with those diagonal cutters and side cutters. Clearly abuse. Don't waste your time on trying to warranty them.

Cutting hardened wire, cable and screws can cause that abuse as well. Seen hundreds.
Imbecile Abuse=No warranty fer stupid.

That said, Channellock or their agents will often warranty that stuff for customer goodwill. If you do get them swapped out for new then I would strongly suggest buying Channellock brand when needed in the future. it's a 2-way street.

I have a pair of knipex side cutters that have a similar mark in them. They cut into a piece of 14/2 that I thought I turned off.

As for warrantying them. I probably wouldn't try.

Yes, without a doubt someone has been cutting live wire and a ground with those. I have warranted dykes before that have been questionable as to worn out or improper hardening......this is about as bad as trying to warranty them because they have rust from leaving outside for weeks.

I thought Channellock's warranty was only for manufacturing defects. I didn't think they warrantied for breakage, wear and tear, or abuse. They don't have as comprehensive of a warranty as craftsman or snap on.
