Anyone deal with channel lock warranty for their tools?
I got this tool set but the selector switch broken after one use for some minor repair task... literally one use. it's made of those hard plastic a like things. it's brittle and broke off, I didn't even realized until today.

https://www.channellock.com/39100-unifit-socket-set.aspx

but their website seems to be a pain to return and get warranty done.... anyone have any lock on this?

I believe a few guys have had some good luck with customer service at Channellock for other issues. Hopefully, you'll get the same great service. Let us know how it turns out.

Also going to move this to the tool section as you may get a better response.

Have a local tool store here called Eppy's...They carry the full line of Channel Lock pliers, never had a problem warranting anything. I've brought in some pretty abused tools and always walked out with a new one.

Never dealt with Channellock but a lot of companies will have you mail the broken item in and then send you a replacement. I've known of a few instances where they will simply mail a replacement without the broken one. I wouldn't think that they would be too difficult if you gave them a call.

The site you linked in the op has a warranty policy, process to return defective items, and a customer service phone number prominently displayed.

That's everything you need to resolve your problem. How could some anonymous person on an internet forum do better than that?

I had a good experience with Channellock warranty. Called them up, explained the problem, mailed them the broken cutters and they mailed me a new pair fast.

I was just asking if they are easy to deal with or PITA. Since I know there are lots channellock faithful users out here. Some brands are just painful that I would be hesitate to buy their tools again painful like the Riddig "Lifetime" warranty for my electric drain cleaner.... I just ended up learning to fixing it my self. and probably won't choose their brand because of their gimmick lifetime warranty and some other brands, I forgot.

The other reason: is this statement from their website... maybe it is just a legal disclaimer thing. Lifetime don't mean your lifetime but their expected tool lifetime I think.

https://www.channellock.com/warranty.aspx

"All Claims for Returned Tool Replacement Subject to Decision of Channellock, Inc.

All CHANNELLOCK® pliers, wrenches, and drivers are warranted for material and/or workmanship. Tools are not warranted against abuse or wear from faithful service.

If you have a tool in question, please return prepaid for inspection to:"

But any how, Let me try to contact them on Monday then, Thanks all.

I broke one of the end "bits" on my snap ring pliers. Sent them an email asking where I could get a new one, and they sent me a whole new bag (multiple sets). Great service.

I called them because I have one of the 175 piece mechanics sets and they gave me a different number stating a different company handles those claims and I thought it was going to be a PITA but I called that company and the guy said he was ******* and he would call me back. He called me back in about 15 minutes and replaced the ratchet that fell apart and even included 3 or 4 sockets that I had lost since I've owned the kit. They came in just a few days and I didn't even have to pay shipping. GREAT customer service in my experience.

hmmmm, just called them, it turned out to be warranty by Allied International not sure if that is the parent company, they made these sets. As soon as I mention the ratchet the guy seems already know this is something of a known issue (forward/reverse selector made of plastic breaks easily)..... didn't even question further where the problem is, wanted me to send in the tool at my own expense. If shipping is 2/3 of the HF set. I think the HF is starting to look really good right now. I ask if he is going to send me a shipping label. All he say was What ever, they are not craftman or snapon or anything like that....it's either not my day or this is the case I rather have a cheap throw away tool then expensive POS lifetime warranty that shipping is costing me 2/3 of a tool set.

Channel Lock warranty Meh!!! :monkey_pi

They should take care of you. That does look exactly like this set though.

weird thing, that set is no long available but it did look exactly the same as the Channel lock ones.

The new set seems to have a metal selector like the normal ratchets have. different design. but still If I ship the tool back to them it's already 2/3 of the cost of this new set.

That is correct. Allied International is who I called but I had a very different experience. They did not ask me to send anything back and even sent me a few extra sockets. I would call back again and speak with someone different.

Read the other previous posts. Screw that company that makes the POS. I hate warrantys with hoops to jump through...

The floating pawl looks very similar to the Craftsman thin profile ratchet selectors. Go to Sears and try one of those...

It's my around the home tool, not my mechanic sets that I kept in the garage. I have since bought a kobalt discontinued rachet with the long handle (all these socket fits)... and I have a craftman set for replacement..... but as a tool-a-holic I hate seeing a working tool broken , besides that, I am on my ratchet / repair /restore phase right now.... so fixing cleaning, greasing , polishing all the rusty/broken one I have right now.... this one is in the list...

Yes I hate jumping through hoops with George from Allied International, All I asked for is if they can ship me that little piece save on the shipping for every one. I even told him I can send him pic as proof / go to Sams club and see if they can dig out my receipt..... But Mr. George treated me like dirt dumb that can't disassemble this ratchet and do the replacement my self and insist I should ship this back to them...Oh well last time I buy tool made by them If I can help it.

I'm completely with you, and had the same lousy experience with a pair of their reversible snap ring pliers.
The warranty isn't worth a damn if it costs you nearly as much to send in a tool to get it replaced as it costs to get a new one in the store.

I have no idea if this will help, but it might be worth a shot.. HD sells those replacement ratchets in the store.. Also... I have a set of Channellock ratcheting wrenches - they are identical to the HF Pittsburg sets. Maybe you can buy a pass through ratchet from HD, or a PIttsubusrg one and scavenge for parts if it comes to that..
