channellock 360 mig pliers, need confirmation

can't find any other pictures, i ordered them online, got them and was disappointed that the pliers don't really come together all the way, not sure if this was intended or not, so wanted to see if someone else has a pair they can confirm with or not, also, the textured grip surface on the tip of the pliers is longer one one side than the other.... im thinking i possibly got a defective pair and might need to warranty them through channellock to get a better fitted pair with the proper grooving. here is a pic of what im talking about.

nobody else has these and can do a quick comparison? i was going to take another bit to go through all the pictures i can online of them, but cant find anything showing them up close at the tips like this while they are closed

I just came home with a brand new pair from Epsteins. The serrations do go about half-again further down the jaw on one side than the other.
I'm not sure why, but that does appear to be the design.
The very tips of the jaws do come together slightly ahead of the rest of the jaw. However, when you squeeze the handles there is a slight amount of flex and they pretty much lay together then.
All I can say is that I've used a $10 Chi-com pair forever, and these look like they will be a drastic improvement!

thanks. good to know that it seems to be their intent.. i know it will still work just the same, i had a pair of lincoln ones, but needed something with a better size opening for the shield covers at work which are much larger than hobby style mig guns.

Checked mine, one side is a little longer than the other, and I do have a slight gap but it closes quickly with not too much pressure.

I checked mine about an hour ago and when the handles are fully closed the jaws are approximately .010" apart.

just an update. used these extensively at work, and the gap makes zero difference when being used to pull wire through, or grab at odd angles (great that they used a cross hatch pattern for the tip gripping surface, because there is no trying to get them just right to get a good grip, they work at any angle.) great for putting a wire through the tiny hole to get it into the gun lining. cutters work great, tip grab area fits perfect, and the nozzle grab area fits even the larger automatic and robot welders i use them on

I checked mine and they have approximately .010" of gap, which is fine since there is nothing I would do with them that would require grabbing something less than that in thickness, so I believe this is a design characteristic of these pliers.
