Channellock Adjustable Wrenches - Your Thoughts?

Channellock Adjustable Wrenches (via ToolGuyd)

What are your thoughts? As described, my first experience with them has been fairly positive.

I am somewhat certain that Irega is the OEM - can you guys confirm this?

I haven't used one, but they feel very good when I've handled them. If I needed another one I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I get most of my adjustables dirt cheap, so I can't justify the cost.

Two pairs, one purchased, one given by Father-In-Law. Both of them have withstood all the work that they have been used for. Again, as the weekend tool warrior, they have held up well. Channellock is pricy for the ocassional user but they are an excellent value, U.S.A. made and long lasting. My goal is to purchase more Channellock items as the need or budget will allow. Now, if I can get my 15 year old son to just put them back in my chest and not his !

You think? Many on this board have commented that prices on Channellock have remained nearly steady for many years (I'm too young to know). In other words their tools have become a better value relative to other brands. For the quality of product, I think even the ocassional user can justify a Channellock purchase. Just my $0.02

That interesting....I knew the slip joint pliers were from Japan, but I didn't know the Japanese had a hand in the development of the adjustable wrench too.

So Elroy has the tool collection "habit" real BAD....

So last night we stopped by this "shop" to check out their current offerings. As soon as we walk up to the tool display, this little gem presents itself. This thing was ABSOLUTELY PREMIUM. Not a flaw or blemish ! Perfect condition in all respects. Can you say PRIMO ???

I don't know maybe this 20 hours of work and 30 hours of being awake on 2 hours of sleep is starting to wear on me. They are damn good crescents though.

Back on subject the Channellocks I would say are useful because the jaws open really wide and when your 10 minutes of stairs away from the next bigger crescent thats a definite plus.

Elroy, I like those Diamonds as well in fact I have the big brother to that one in my tool box with a slightly more used patina.

I've had a 10" Klein in my box for several years.

They operate smoothly with little effort and they are not sloppy like a lot of other adjustable wrenches are. They have no equal.

I can honestly say that Craftsman Adjustable wrenches are awesome quality, especially for the money. The Fit and Finish is top notch, and they don't have the slop that most adjustable wrenches typically have. I have been extremely impressed with the 8 inch satin chrome model I have, and plan on eventually buying the rest of the set.

I have four Diamond adjustables. Passed on to me by my father who used them for 25 years in his transmission shop. Beat to heck, but they still work great.

The Klien's are nice, but a little pricey for an adjustable. Maybe if you find a great deal...

Irega is an odd company. They are in Spain and I think they make only one product (adjustable wrenches), and having been doing so for many years.

I've got a few old Iregas (traditional metal handle ones, with the traditional round hole at the end of the handle) and they are excellent. When you use one, there is no doubt that it is a high quality product. I used to use Snap-Ons (smooth jaws).

I have no idea what these new plastic handle Iregas are like. But if the short plastic handle doesn't bother you, I'm sure they are great.

I have a 8" and a 10" Crescent wrenches, in my box. The 10" was my great grandpa's. It is the only tool of his that I own. My crazy great aunt sold all his tools at a garage sale when I was a kid. It was a great tragedy in my family. I dont think that one would ever leave my tool box! As far as the channellock ones on the forum I really like them. Unfortunately the shop boss does not like us to use them...

The jaws on the Klein's move in and out really easy and have no slop. The only adjustable wrench I've used that is as smooth as that is a Sears branded wrench from Japan.

My brother has a handful of cman adjustable wrenches and a couple combo's with made in Japan markings...

I have the one from the OP picture and I am very happy with it. I work with a lot of large caps that are low torque and I NEED the extra capacity I get with the small Channellock adjustable. I would have to get one that was much larger to get that capacity and I would hate to carry that around all day. The adjustment is very smooth, pretty much the same as some older Iregas that I have.

This adjustable is made in Spain by the way. I got it from HD for around $22 probably a year ago.

I handled the 8'' Channellock model last week at Home Depot. Nice quality, smooth mechanism with very little slop. I think it was around $25.
