Went to Walmart today to buy some toilet paper and cat food. Hard to go wrong with those! Passing through tools and hardware I noticed all the Channellock pliers are being clearance out. 426,420,430 and 440s all about 30% off. Looks like the store is going all in on Hart and HyperTough. Everything branded Stanley, Irwin, Crescent, Keter and alot of the Black & Decker power tools are all marked clearance and discounted similarly.

I've been buying the Hyper Tough handled pry bars with the striking cap. They're domestic and sure do resemble Wilde.

I hate WalMart but will go look at that clearance sale.

Are the Black & Decker Workmates on clearance?

My local walmart doesn't stock anything like that, but I would guess it's a great possibility. The only thing I can recall seeing in the the tool isle that wasn't on clearance, besides Hart & Hypertough branded stuff, was Gator branded finishing products (sandpaper, etc), though some of their "bonus packs" were on clearance. If you're looking for one, and your walmart stocks them, I would definitely go take a peek.

The short 8" Hyper-Tough striking cap prybar is also on clearance for $5. Regular price is $6.98. I picked one up to go along with my Craftsman/Wilde Prybar set.

They also had Stanley, Black & Decker, Irwin-Vice Grips on clearance. Looked to be about a 20%-25% savings from their retail.

I almost bought some of the Stanley Torx & star drive sets. Torx were $9 each SAE & Metric and the larger set of star was $17.

I made the 12 mile trip to the closest WalMart. No clearance pricing on any of their tools. The 17 inch pry bar was regularly only nine bucks. I've misplaced my other one and was tempted but walked away.

Strangely, they had the new Hart cordless in boxes on shelves but no display models of anything Hart. Also, it appears Hart and Hyper Tough will be competing head to head in some arenas. I'm sure there are changes to come.

You can check the local store prices on brickseek to see if your store has them on clearance before driving out. At the my local store the Channellock pliers are on sale for about 27% off. They also have the 8" HT/Wilde pry bar on sale for $5. I wonder if the bigger pry bars will go on sale too.

Lowes also has some deals on Channellocks (see quote below)

(b)LOWES has the Channellock 4 piece set with screwdriver for $24 or with bottle opener for $25. Amazon had the same price briefly but they jacked the price back up to around $45.

The 3 pliers are made in the USA. The screwdriver is made in China.

Well, I rolled the dice and headed to Walmart.
No Channelock products in sight...
Did find their Stanley tools were marked down and picked a nifty little quarter inch set to keep in my saddlebag.
Paid $12 for it. Not bad.
Still wanted new pliers... oh well.

Hit the Wally today and snached up the last two pairs of Channellock 440’s for $13 each (normally about $17) and the last Stanley utility knife for $3.50 (normally about $5.00)

I was hoping to buy a couple regular Stanley 25’ tapes and some razor knife blades but it’s just about all cleared out. Looks like the sharks have been feeding. Pretty decent discounts. Not riot in the streets discounting but pretty good if you need to fill out some blanks and get some spares.

I grabbed the two pack channel locks, a set of dasko nail punches and the little pry bar all made in us. The prices were only a few bucks off but these will be gone by the time the prices change. They had a lot of other stuff left I'll have to check on later.

I went to mine today. Big dissappointment. They did have the Channellock pliers, but I have similar already. I did check out all the new Hart stuff.

Not that i need need any new sockets (even for a car set) but they have a 3/8 socket set , & full range SAE & Metric (7-19). I was surprised to see it was all 6 pt! Seems like all the budget sets had 12 pts.

The 4 piece power tool set is like Meh.

I went back this morning and got the 17" prybar. I now have all I want of them at a fantastic price.

Same here, no Channel Locks, and very little Stanley. They had some of those 1/4 inch socket sets, but they were $15 (original price said $20).

Went back to the same store today, zero Stanley tools left. Couldn't find them in the general clearance section, either. Not sure if they boxed them up to ship them elsewhere, and didn't have time to hunt for them, but I doubt they sold everything that they had.

I didn't see them in my local store. But I admit that I wasn't really looking at them. I will now. Thank you.
