You guys made me stop and examine Channelocks while at Walmart yesterday.

My only conclusion, Walmart is aggravating as heck on a Saturday around dinner time.

Other than that, what more could people want. A two pack of brand new pliers for 19.99. :dunno:

This is a good thread. I think Channelock is a great company and I admire them greatly for making quality tools in the USA for affordable prices. We need more of that. Thank you.

Can there be any doubt that with both raw material and employee costs going up every year that they have not instituted value engineering? If they hadn't they would have already sold out and either be under new ownership or producing overseas.

Hopefully the value engineering shaved costs without sacrificing longevity. Hard.to say without a statisticly significant amount of destructive testing.

Applaud them for not selling out their workers. Question the system that drives relentless inflation.

Sorry guys, I'm still just hearing a bunch of defensive rhetoric. Does anyone here besides Parrothead and Myself have any experience with channellock products purchased in the last year?

Yep. Almost all of mine as I finally updated all my pliers from Chinese ****. I love almost every pair of my channelocks. From tongue and groove to slip joint, cutters, and needle nose.
I got one pair of their base model cutters I wasn't impressed with in terms of workmanship. Rough edges, uneven grind marks....ya know. But they work just fine. Same complaint with my pair of long nose base model. Tips don't line up, rough edges, uneven grinds. Those are the only two I wasn't impressed with and went and got the slightly more expensive models that are top notch. I gave the ones I didn't care for to my friend who doesn't use tools often and doesn't care.

Overall, I'm impressed with the quality vs price point. Channelock kicks ***.
