Wanted to let you know I got a good deal on these do it best hardware channellock sockets and they are not that great. Aesthetically pleasing but not that great fit on the ratchet. HF quality fit. Their ratcheting wrenches with flex are actually really nice and have teeth in the open end. The ratchet that comes with the channellock sockets is terrible. Great visual marketing though by do it best and knurling and solid colors on the sockets. They look great but would not recommend for hard use. Would like to know if anyone else has used these and let me know your opinion.

I have Channellock combo wrenches and they are great.

That's exactly the reputation they have. Homeowner at best.

People will ***** but these companies pay a lot of money to find out what other products they can brand and profit off of. I don't like it either. It also has to do with how box stores use their shelf space. It gets filled in "supplier batches" so to speak, not individual products.

You have to remember that the imported tools branded Channellock aren't real Channellock tools since Channellock prostituted its name to make a few bucks as other brands did so, your expectations should be lower right off the bat.
Pictures would help to illustrate your points.
Channellock may use one supplier for wrenches and a completely different vendor for sockets & ratchets.
this may be just a case of you get what you pay for :dunno:

Yeah I agree you get what you pay for most of the time. I have to life and learn. I am surprised the Channellock combo wrenches are not as popular on GJ as I have never heard bad things about them.

Yup. Channellock from Sam's club isn't gonna be top shelf haha.

Granted, I bought a set of screwsticks there as a kid and they last.

Their lack of popularity may be based on whether or not you have a do it best hardware store available close by. Additionally, I think Dewalt & Tekton sets also give them a run for their money.

I agree with that. I have had great luck with Tekton. I now use the Channellock sockets for my beaters in the Subaru and if they are stolen then oh well.

If you look at channellockproducts.com it says at the bottom of the page "This site is run and maintained by doitbest.com LLC". So it's not even channellock running that website like they do with channellock.com

The only tools that Channellock makes themselves are their pliers. And even then, some things may be farmed out like their wire strippers. It would be unreasonable to expect them to make everything in house as they are a relatively small tool manufacturer (compared to Snap on, Stanley and Apex tool group) that actually makes stuff in the US. Their Made in Taiwan tools can't be worse than other Made in Taiwan tools out there. I wouldn't blame them as they specialize in pliers and if they want to diversify their offerings a bit, they are either going to have to buy new tooling (hard to justify and risky for a small company) to make other types of tools or find someone else to make it for them. Taiwanese tools tend to be the best compromise between quality and price.

Just don't understand why Channellock would damage their reputation by having their name on cheep tools.
You can buy Snap On branded sruff in Costco that is made in China for them or some licensee. Everybody does it a company called Nextgrill makes bbq grills in China but sold them in Costco or Lowes with the Jennair brand name on them. Jennair is a high end brand of down draft kitchen stoves owned by Whirlpool and has NOTHING to do with BBQ grills. I bought a replacement wireless phone battery branded G.E. In small print it said they were actually made by some company nobody ever heard of that GE had licenced the name to for batteries. It apparantly is worth doing because well known companies do it all the time and not always to companies making premium stuff.

For the same reason a lot of sleazy old fleabag motels that probably used to charge by the hour are now branded "Red Lion Inn and Suites".
They don't care about their reputation; just capitalizing on the name recognition and are going to ride it all the way to the scene of the crash.:(
