channelock plant on fire!

Just heard on the scanner that channelock plant 2 where they do their handle dipping and warehousing and shipping is on fire. Sure hope everyone got out ok. Always sad when something like this happens especially this time of year. At least from what i know of the company they take care of their employees. Layoffs this time of year would be rough.

Please keep us updated...as for lay-offs (any time of year) if all it would take is to purchase one pair of pliers...I'm not advocating a "run" on Channelocks" but I could stand to upgrade some of my pliers. They were bought years ago and start with that "J" or "T" word...at least there aren't any "C" words in the COO

Phone alarm to Meadville Central FD at 9:20am- report of fire in an air collection system at the South Main Street plant.

Small fire contained to vent of system, No significant damage and operations were uninterrupted.

No injuries.

This wasen't at the south main st plant. This is a 6 alarm fire through the roof at the mercer pike location. Hopefully i heard wrong but this was this afternoon not this morning. I will have to check in and keep everyone updated.

Minor Fire At Channel Lock Plant #2
Multiple fire crews were alerted to a commercial structure fire at Vernon Township's Channel Lock Plant #2 on Mercer Pike Friday afternoon. Most of the fire departments were held on stand by in their stations as Vernon Twp., Vernon Central and West Mead #2 VFDs handled what turned out to be a fire in the dust collection system on the outside of the building. Thick black smoke was briefly visible as efforts to control the fire progressed. The fire alarm system alerted employees, who evacuated the building and stood by in the parking lot.
Damage appears to have been minimal to the system and the fire was declared under control at about 3:30.
