Charging Milwaukee battery using inverter on 12v

Like an inverter that plugs into the lighter in a car? If so, yes with great success.
Remote hunting cabin way off grid and we don't have a generator.
For many years I charged my old Milwaukee 18V ni-cads and recently my M12 batteries, along with other rechargeable flashlights and such, with perfect success off of one.

I can't tell you specifically about the current Milwaukee chargers and batteries, but certain types of chargers should definitely not be used with a common modified-sine-wave inverter. It can damage the battery and/or charger. A more expensive pure-sine-wave inverter will be fine. Milwaukee does have a technical support department, and after some calls and emails you could probably get your answer, but your best solution would probably be to just get a Milwaukee automotive charger.

I work in the utility industry out in the field and that's all we use. Some batteries seem to act up but most of the new stuff is good to go. Your good to go with the Milwaukees.
The cheaper / simpler small battery chargers can have issues on MSW inverters,The worst offenders are found on the older NiCd devices, like shavers.
I reckon chances are much better on a heavier stand alone Li ion one.
Tread lightly by using all your senses..
Does it squeal , do the LEDs shine brighter than normal, smells like burning electrons.

I have a HF power inverter (400 watt I think) mounted to the dashboard on my digger at work. It powers an m18/m12 charger, and will run led flood lights just fine..
I also have the 12v/110v Milwaukee charger. It works good, but won't work if I have it on a splitter with other things like a GPS or phone charger plugged in at the same time.. that might just be on that one truck though.. that HF inverter works fine. Been using it for years to charge batteries.

I have an AC Delco 400W power inverter that I use with my different tool chargers. Milwaukee dual charger has 2.1A rating and the old Makita's 18/12V I have are 2.6 and 2.1 respectively. No problems.
The new Rapid Charger is 2.75 amp draw haven't tried that one yet but should be fine too
Milwaukee charger manuals do state you can use an inverter 300W or higher.
Just looked a M12 is only 750ma
