BHeck: i would guess the same as Greg mentioned that your old Parker was probably black originally. you might want to check out posts 117-124 on the Vise Repair 101 thread to see how McB restored his old Parker. Please add pictures and a couple posts of yours on that thread so it won't get lost like so many other good restorations.
also welcome to the Forum and hope you stick around to learn a little and teach us what you know. i know i can honestly say i learn something or a few things almost every day i read these posts or ask a few questions and get the guys that know what the answers are.
