Charles Parker 974 swivel base bolt

Wouldn't the bolt size vary according to the size of the vise?

I can't recall the size of my 4" Reed bolt off hand but I know it was standard coarse thread count for it's size.

Worst case, take some soft wood, like pine, that barely doesn’t fit in the hole, and thread it in. The metal will cut threads into the wood, and then count TPI. As noted above, probably standard coarse thread, so measuring the hole ID, and grabbing an appropriate bolt, will 80% fit.

I have a Parker 974. Luckily it’s not currently mounted. The swivel base screw thread on mine is 10 tpi.

I’ve just checked the threads on the hole of my base center hole (on my new (to me) Parker 954 B (same as 974 B)) and the threads are 3/4”-10 UNC (specs attached)… in case any needs to machine a replacement for this shallow shoulder bolt.

I hope that someone else will confirm here the remaining specs for the center bolt. I don’t yet have this center bolt, but elsewhere it is reported to have an 11/16” a 1 1/4” hex head and I can only estimate the shoulder as approx 1/2” long plus threads approx 1/2” long. (I found this image online.)
