There's one of these on the local CL for $25. I don't know much about vises, only that chinese bad, vintage U.S. good.

Is this worth $25?

Thanks!

If there are no cracks or repairs and if the jaws are in decent shape, that's a very nice vise for $25.

Thanks, guys. :)

I was just curious; I don't really need it. I have a nice little Columbian that does what I need, and I haven't caught Vise Fever, so far. :headscrat

That's me, Bill here in Detroit. I talked to the seller and she knows it will be a bit of trouble and cost to ship that far.
It would be a far better solution for someone in Northern CA to get it. She is near Redding. The phone number is 1 530 242-1299.

Anyone interested?

OP, you need to go get this. It's the best vise you will ever use. There is a little secret to it as well. If you look in the end of the cylindrical nut the handle goes through, you will see a little Phillips head screw. Tightened just the right amount, this screw pushes a spring that puts just enough tension on the handle, so that the handle will not drop as you turn it.
Just another example of the fine engineering on this vise. If you look at the way the jaws are shaped, they allow very good access for filing items clamped in the vise. I would drive 100 miles for this vise.

Reconsider!

Go buy it. If you aren't completely satisfied, one of us will send you your $25 plus shipping to buy it back from you. That's the Vise Squad Guarantee.

:lol_hitti

You guys are cracking me up. :D Until I started hanging around here, I thought of vises as utilitarian tools, not objects of worship.

Believe me, as a man of many collections, I completely understand. But my "stuff" is slowly pushing me out the door of my house, and I don't have a garage ... :(

Out of courtesy, maybe you should remove her phone number from your post?

Your comment struck me as funny. I wonder if you are an older person who feels women need protecting. Her number is on her ad, so it's out there already. And I want to make it widely available so someone near her can get the vise. If we can just get B17E1943 to realize he "NEEDS" it, problem will be solved!

Bill

Some women may need protecting, but the ones I run into today are gun totin', *** kickin' ones like my wife. They're more than equal so they don't need no stinkin' Equal Rights Amendment!

bczygan - your location gives creedance to the fitness of women. Out here in the Outlands, our women think of dust as face powder and the 35mph winds as a blow dryer. We have them tough and ruthless.....not like the rough and toothless ones in Texas.

You went deep into the corn field with this one, my friend.

Whether the ad belongs to a man or a woman is irrelevant. In MY OPINION (its not the law, just my opinion, which is why I wrote "maybe"), the courteous thing to do would be to link to the ad, not post the number. That way after the item is sold and the ad is delisted, no one will waste time calling, nor will the ad owner waste time telling them the item has already been sold.

I hope you realize that your wacky rant about women grew from a seed stored, planted and fertilized in your own head.

Now it needs a few vise friends.

Parker are my favorite vises. $25 for any Parker that isn't cracked or broken is a steal
