Has anybody ever heard of a Charles Parker No. F vise? See the attached photos. It's a big vise with jaws that are slightly less than 6" in width. Is there any information out there on this vise at all? I searched the internet and came up empty. Any light that you could shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am wondering exactly the same thing. I've never heard of a No. F Parker vise, yet there it is in the photo as plain as day.

The first parallel vise series by Parker was letters. Started with A and went to the letter G is the highest I have seen in brochures. Double letters like AA or FF were swivel models, singe letter were stationary. I don't have a brochure handy for reference but I think the largest G was 6 1/4", your F should something like 5 or 5 1/2". This series started late 1800's

What are you defining as a "Parallel" Vise? :dunno:

Parkers first vises were patented in 1854...

Good question, in the old ads, sometimes they were simply referred to as Parallel series, sometimes Vulcan series, see the attached ads

I had to resurrect this old thread to say thanks to FMC1959 for posting the old catalogue pages just above since this is the first time (of several that I have tried) that I have gained any insight into IDing my old Parker Vise. It is an FF which is a 115# Vulcan Swivel model. I would very much like to know two tings if possible. What is its age? and what color was it from the factory? Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
It seems maybe the best guess would come from when Parker STOPPED making this model. Anyone?
