The 1.5 month countdown is on and we're making plans for the movers and such. Thankfully our apartment is extending our lease another week which should make the transition less of a crunch. The doors, cabinets, fireplace stone work, and baseboards were completed this week. The builder also brought in three truck loads of dirt to better grade the back yard. We're still waiting on the final survey to hash out the property line question but we measured the yard last week with the realtor to get a better sense. I'm hopeful that it'll turn out as expected.

We pre-wired the 5.1 surround on the first and third floor to make things easier on myself. I'm eyeing these Martin Logan SLM wall mounts for the fronts and center along w/ matching rears in the ceiling. The tv is a 75" Samsung which should fill the wall nicely. I started researching projectors and such for the third floor but that's pretty low on the priority list.

The builder did a good job partially hiding the two water heaters. We did a rough in for a sink and looking for a plumber to add a nozzle as I like to detail indoors.

Garage baseboards installed and they will paint the walls a similar taupe as the interior. There will be three ceiling lights installed that will be replaced with some three sets of 6 4' LED panels.

Mid-week Update:

For starters I ordered 4 gallons of primer from Armorpoxy yesterday as that's been bugging me ever since I ordered the epoxy kits a few weeks back. I had concerns about the porosity of the fresh concrete and wanted to do it better this time. I did have a few chips coming up in the prior garage after three years. Also, ordered a fun box from Adam's polishes as the cars aren't getting maintained due the apartment living. I do like to detail.

In terms of the house, they continue to make great progress and had the concrete poured this week. I'm really happy with how the driveway turned out. My optimistic plan is to epoxy the main garage the first weekend we move in and then do the second garage the week after. That's the plan anyways.

I did get a labor quote for the epoxy and he wanted $1500 or $1.50 a sq ft. This would put the total including materials at almost $3k or $3 a ft. No thanks on that.

At this point I'm making plans for the following:
1. Lighting - there are three 4' fixtures in the ceiling that I plan to swap out for 6 LED bulb fixtures for starters
2. Plumbing - there is rough-in but need to figure out how to get a proper sink and hose connection
3. Gladiator wall panels - 1'x8' panels to cover one wall and single tracks for the others

2 week countdown underway. The house is all locked up but we were able to get a quick look last Friday after the carpet and garage doors were installed.

I really need to catch up with this but here is a potato pic.

As of late I epoxied both garages and been working on the gladiator stuff. Tomorrow's plan is to hang the wall tracks.

More pics to come [emoji106]

Looks like an awesome build. Got a question about your gladiator gear-rack- where did you source the 8 foot long tracks? I have 3x30 inch cabinets I want to run along one wall and a single 8foot track would be perfect

Cheers!

I bought the 8' sections off amazon. I recall it being $70 for 2 sections. [emoji106]

afefd767f545ab15a1dcf4858f77316c.jpg her garage, kept it simple with just a single track. Her floor turned out better than mine [emoji53]

dbff7efb2bd25843e8cb44c0531cf5c0.jpg not garage related but the speakers arrived for the living room. They're 3x Martinlogan slm, dynamo 1000 sub, and ml-80i surrounds. They'll go around a 75" Samsung led tv [emoji342]. Installer coming Friday and pics to follow [emoji106]

Look here... Gear Wall (12-1/2" high).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00147J4AK/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I've never seen the narrow Gear Track in 8' - only 4'. Don't see them on the Gladiator site either.

Yeah, I saw that, but it seems a shame to spend $45 (per piece- only need one strip for the cabinets) when I can get 2x 4 feet geartrack for $20.

I'll try **** joining 2 strips of the 4feet geartrack over 6 studs and see how it goes. Would mean screwing 2 ends into the same 1.5 inch wide stud, 1/2 inch from the end of each. That particular stud will be covered by the center of the middle cabinet, so I might be ok if I don't load it too much.

Thanks again

Wow! Really looks great! I love the seperate garages and have decided that is what would be best for the wife and myself. Did you layout the floorplan yourself? Also, whats the $/Sq Ft cost of custom construction in NC? Here in NM custom building starts around $150 and goes up. Love that garage!

Appreciate the kind words, Jon. The house isn't really custom as it's in a planned neighborhood. Cost wasn't terrible, at least not compared to our prior MD home, at about $120 a sq ft. The garage layout has been working great as I can keep stuff out of site in her space. I was sold on the garage layout as it's about 1k total sq ft. [emoji106]

Slow and steady lately but ordered the garage lights and they should be shipping tomorrow. Went with max lite fixtures and T8 led tubes, 16 in total.

In other news, my wife is having the attic off the master closet finished. Day 2 of that project and is supposed to be done this Friday. 4800e3ce1178d8b8de2085f36f220990.jpg

Closet project is almost complete. The contractor is waiting on drawers and still needs to paint and hang lights.

In other news, today marks two weeks since placing my order with led lighting warehouse and nothing has shipped. Blah. Following up today 79a9a9b087499cdba3de9a855dcd62ae.jpg

Closet is almost done. Awaiting the cabinets and another coat of paint.

My garage lights still haven't shipped. Losing my love for ledwarehouseinc. They said a minimum order was needed before the lights would be shipped to them. Not sure why that's my problem but oh well.

Lights finally arrived after waiting 3 weeks but only received 4 of the 16 bulbs. When I called that said they were in the same box and thought I was scamming them. No thanks led lighting warehouse. Another week passed and still no bulbs from them. Oh well, at least everything is hung [emoji106][emoji594]

Thanks, it's her space and she's happy with it. The guy could've done a cleaner job with the paint though and I'm planning on redoing the ceiling. I'm not sure on materials but know it's not too fancy. 529cf2cf9661e8f74f16cf0c9313e168.jpg

The light saga finally came to an end today as I received the missing 12 bulbs. All told took a month, five false promises, seven emails, and three phone calls to get the order right. No thank, led lighting wholesale

It's been far too long but it's time for a belated update.

The only change to the garage lately has been a fresh coat of light gray paint and a new car. My wife is pregnant and we've been slowly researching the necessities and getting the house ready.

I took delivery of the S4 last month after ordering a near identical one back on May. This one was on the boat and a competing dealer made a month end offer that was too good. I did the standard stuff to get the car road worthy with a single step polish and Suntek PPF on the full hood, bumper, mirrors, and headlights. After that I applied Gyeon Mohs and Booster in addition to all the trim and leather coatings. I had three months to burn while waiting and accumulated a nice bundle of Gyeon products to try out.

After feeling more motivated from the S4, I ordered a sign from Vista Print and started offering detailing to my surrounding neighborhoods. I've done three cars in the past week and have a '17 E300 coming back weekly for maintenance washes.
