Should I jump on this for $50? I know just enough about vices to get me in trouble, so not sure. Any advice?

I would despite the make shift handle.

If I needed a vise, which I don't.

Looks like the collar is missing too. I would pass, it's only a 3" fixed base.

If you don't have a vise, and the screw's in good shape, go for it. Not the best deal on the planet but much better bang for the buck than anything at the big stores.
I have a slightly bigger Chas and its great.

I've already got a wilton bullet on the bench for a restore and 2 newer wilton users, so this would just be another candidate for clean up and light use. Might hold off n see if price drops in a few days since handle n collar dont appear in good shape
