Now there is a proper color scheme!

I'd paste wax the slide to keep it from rusting. Nice job on the resto and very nice vise!

Very Very NICE!! What does that bad boy weigh?

I am sort of in communication with a guy about one but he wants me to buy a whole garage full of stuff and not just the vise. :wtf: I hope I can break him of that. lol If I get it I hope to make it look real close to yours!!

According to an old add I stumbled on, the 435 weighs in at 116 lbs. It had a bigger brother (ie 436) that came in at a whopping 185 lbs.

I really like the design of the swivel lock. The entire circumference of the locking ring expands into the base. (kind of like a 360 degree drum brake).

The lock seems much more secure then Wilton's design.

These old vises are pretty cool!!

I still need to polish the slide and was planning to use scotch brite. Following up with paste wax is a great suggestion - thanks!

Wonderful refreshing of a humpback Parker! It has just enough marks on it to have some personality. Those vises are so unique in profile and yours is a nice size. The stand is a very nice effort also. Good planning and execution! 2 slices of vise pie for you tonight!

116lbs sounds about right, just got one of these this weekend, beautiful job. Mine is really rusty so once I clean it up I will probably paint it up like yours, what did you use to paint it with?

-Thanks

Rustoleum self etching primer followed by a several coats of Hammertone Black. (it comes out more like dark gray).

The jaws and handles were coated with Nikolas clear lacquer. The slide was just coated with paste wax.

The lettering was done with Testor's enamel. (Steel)

You got me thinking about that stand now that I look at it the pics again. Help save the space on the workbench, let alone find one that will support that much weight plus whats in it.

I assume you made that one, would you consider making and selling me one?

-Thanks

The stand came with the vise at the garage sale. (I didn't make it).

Someone did a top notch job fabricating it though. For everyday use it should really be anchored to the floor.
