Using a vise as a press is likely the #1 reason for broken vises, and that includes good vises like your Parker. ;)

I use my vises as a press on occasion, just have to use your head, and NO cheater bars on the handle. There's a reason the handle is as long as it is.........

You really need a press for a press.---They do a better job of pressing and one of these days, when you need to use your vise, there it will be, laying there in two pieces.:D---If you just have to, get a HF import for your pressing.------------OR NOT.

Have a 20 ton hyd. press and a Greenerd 3-3/4 5 ton arbor press, but for quick light pressing jobs I still sometimes use a vise. I'm 59 yrs old, using vises since I was about 10, never broke one yet. I sometimes hammer on stuff and bend steel in my vises too, but like I say, you have to use your head, and make sure the vise you're using is up to the task you want it to do.

I have a Wilton 645 and love it (wish these models had a date stamp but I feel mine is early 70's). Not too heavy for the small space...very smooth. I see you are missing the pipe jaws too. The pipe jaws are easily removed so easily misplaced. Enjoy!

Here is a link to a Parker 204, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1903318&postcount=3237. Look for member FMC1959 and download his Spreadsheet, has plenty of information on vises. The 1644 Mechanics Wilton vise is in there too and posting the weight, jaw width and max opening would help filling in the empty spec tabs. Post pictures too. The Wilton is actually a rare vise.

meatsis, you remind me of my family that lives in your neck of the woods. Dover Plains, Wingdale, Millbrook, Pleasant Vally and so on and they like to bust chops too.

Yes I'm just busting balls. I tend to be very sarcastic. I don't mean to insult or upset anybody. It's all in good fun.
That's funny all those towns you mentioned are all less than an hour away from me  I'm in Stormville.

motorman1133 - welcome to the forum. Great vise.

To answer your question, the vise is ultimately valued at what someone is willing to pay for it. It's nice, but not super rare or extra large, which typically adds value. Obviously it's been refurb'd/repainted as well, which either adds, or detracts, from the value depending on the interested party looking to buy.

It's worth somewhere between $40 and $400. Depends who wants it and for what reason...

I have a Parker model 202 . 3&1/2 inch jaws about 22 lbs really old . They constantly changed the numbering/lettering as they introduced new models right up to the 900's of which I have a nice 955, 85 lbs
