Hey all, new here just signed up. I will be taking possession of my grandfathers snap-on chests here soon and wanted to read up and get advice about restoring them.

Been in my new home about a year now and just getting to clearing out all the junk from the garage currently. I am almost there and have MY tools organized but await delivery of my grandfathers tools from my dads house. He has been hounding me to take them and I almost have enough room.

He has 1 tall chest with a top box on it and 1 shorter chest full of good old stuff that wasn't taken care of the best. I really would like to recondition and restore both chests then all the tools over time but we will see.

My grandfather was a big rig mechanic and these tools are from the 50's or around there I am assuming. My dad retired from Chrysler and knows how to turn a wrench and taught me, my mom currently works for GM. I work for a large engineering company doing project management and also some 3D mechanical, piping, and equipment design.

I'm 34, married and have 2 daughters. For "fun" I build websites on the side, I also run a few forums and have run vBulletin forums for many years now.

I also maintain all my own cars, currently a 2010 Acura RDX that the wife drives and I have a 99 Mercedes C230 Kompressor with 198k on it. Previously we had a 06 Honda pilot we bought new and never set tire in a shop, traded it last year with 245k on it.

Can't wait to start talking to you all,
Chase

Thank you Hot, as bad as it is, here is where my current tools are in my garage, they are organized for now, still need to get rid of tons of junk though to fit the other boxes.
