Cheap ******* floor coating

I'm in the roofing phase of my 30x36 garage and beginning to research floor coatings.
The garage will be home use woodworking/lift-mechanic/and welding. I'm trying to build on a budget. I'd like to get some kind of a coating on the floor for color and protection from dirt and oil.
Looking at all the products out there it looks like just about everything is 1400 or more. Epoxy with the fixings and topcoat are 2500+. Rust bullet is 1500 or so. Even just a spray dye and coat seem to be over a grand? Its going to be a working and dirty space so not overly concerned with a pretty setup but also don't want to spend 800 bucks on a product that will come up and be a nightmare. Even the Rustolem set up for my size looks to be 1200+.
I really don't want to move every thing in and then try to do this later. Rather get it done or nothing at all. I'm not going to grind new concrete as my time is limited and really need to do the outside. Any suggestions?

Densifier and Ghostshield 8505 / 8510 sealer only. No aesthetic value but will protect the floor. Often used when we talk about welding.

Can I use a dye under the ghostshield?

I would not. Legacy industrial has some acid stains and top coats.

No prep, not much to offer and for good reason.
We have a nice Stainguard and a range of densifiers and of course Justin as some items too.

My shop will be used for the same thing Kai.

Think Im going to floor grind it some to get the top in better shape. My floor has some low spots too.

But Im going to do the densifier and ghostshield like they recommend and thatll probably be it.

I might get a rubber mat and put in the area where vehicles or equipment pulls in if I plan to do oily work.

But like they say..epoxy and stuff aint gonna hold up to welding slag and hot metal youre cutting.

Also it can be applied with no prep as long as the floor is not super hard troweled, just power wash it first and let dry.

If you are really cheap, just go with Armor All or any silicone based tire dressing. My ******* neighbor, with my idiot wife's permission, used my driveway to wash his car once while I was deployed overseas (some ******** about him not having a hose). He applied some foaming tire shine product and it left stains on my driveway that are still there 3 years later. These 4 stains repel water like nobody's business. I imagine it would repel oil too.

Bulk house paint left over from a painting contractor. Chances are they'll give you as many gallons as you care to carry off.
Touches up easliy.
Prevents concrete dust.
So easy to apply.
Lasts for a few years then just wash off the big chunks and reroll.

Too much emphasis put on floor finishes.

In a past house I just used the basic cheap garage floor paint.
It swept up and moped up easily.
When I did scratch it I just cleaned the area and touched it up like you do the walls in the house.
I spilled fluids on it, welding, grinding, woodworking, and it held up well. Like said, when I did damage it I just touched it up

Am I reading you right? 4 coats of rust bullet?

The densifier and ghostshield for 1080 sq ft look to be about 700 as requires 2 coats?

Looking at the price on both its about a grand. Man i'm torn between spending more to get a nice epoxy topping and going with this for this price. What/where did you get the dye?
Its just a workshop but I do like to have some color.

i'll be spraying auto paint so no silicone allowed in this shop if I can help it. Can't imagine how slick that floor would be if I did this stunt

As well as anything. The nice part about acid stain is that it is not consistent so if you burn the floor with slag it will not stand out too bad

2 coats for a typical residential garage. Shop or commercial should have 4

I havent got power yet to the shop so itll probably be awhile before I get mats.

Got to grind floor and coat it with that ghostsheild. Ill take a look at them mats though and check em out.

WHOA don't do that Ghostshield is not a coating. It is a sealer. If you grind it first you are going to create a very very dirty floor
