In australia we put up with all sorts of taiwanese/chinese rubbish. The only real made in usa option is overpriced (snap on) and we have a bit of good german gear but the other day i saw japanese koken sockets. My old man bought a few when they were a relatively new brand and were probably jap **** back then but i have heard that they are bit more of a premium brand now. When the average kincrome taiwanese/chinese 40pc half drive set costs say 150-200 dollars the koken set was 250. Does anyone know if there good and thats a good buy?

What shop was stocking Koken? Certainly a lot better than anything they sell here in Australia.

hello, I need a set of screwdrivers something like a pack of 12-16 what do you have, might give koken a whirl if money isn't out of the way.

packet/case not a must can always make something homemade if nothing suitable

shipping will be to Europe if you are interested

P.S. must be rust proof as will be stored in a shed

For around $50 difference I'll go Koken in a heartbeat. Great tools. However their ratchets though durable are a bit coarse for my liking ( low gear count ).

It was toowoomba bolts and industrial, it was 12pt full half drive and the ratchet wasnt coarse :p
Do you know what the box number was? Should be four digit number, with M for Metric, A for imperial, or AM for both.

And since I have a shedload of it, yeah, Koken every time FTW!

I dont know if they still exist but when I lived in Sydney I worked at Mason-Ammson and they sold Koken, Gedore, and KingChrome.

Koken was the top of the line they carried and well worth a 20% premium over Kingchrome

Globy,

I would suggest contacting GarageJournal member "quattrojon". He is a mobile tool dealer in England. "quattrojon" sells Koken as well as other brands. Please check out his public profile for his complete tool lineup. I have purchased twice from him in the past. "quattrojon" is a great guy to purchase hand tools.
