Cheap Laptop for the Garage!

Compaq Presario R3000

- 2.8Ghz
- 2 Gigs RAM
- Wireless
- DVD Drive
- 15.4" screen

Notebook is in good shape. The sound doesn't work, and it needs a new battery. Works fine plugged into wall, but unplugged the battery only holds a charge for about 20-30mins.

The sound issue could be solved with a $10 USB sound card if you just had to have sound. Or, they sell the replacement sound boards on Ebay for $5 or so, but you would have to dismantle the laptop to replace it.

Loaded with fresh install of Windows XP SP3.

I'm asking $235 shipped to your door.

I believe that is not a soundboard but it actually has on board sound, I see you have a new install of xp on it, was it the one shipped with the laptop?

The sound board is a separate board from the main. It's a small 1 inch by 3 inch looking thing that ribbons to the main.
