Any of you peeps on the Harbor Freight "opt-in" list probably have already seen this $6.99 thermometer (with coupon) . . . I'm going to get one for giggles to see if my PWC cylinders are half close on temp. Thoughts?

The product manual says the distance:spot ratio for this thermometer is 1:1. This means that to read an area 1 inch in diameter, the thermometer needs to be 1 inch away from the surface. The pistol grip style and the flexible shaft style are both 8:1 ratio. (It can be 8 inches away to read a 1 inch spot). Just something to think about if you are going to be measuring in an area with hot or moving parts.

I have a Raytek MiniTemp MT-4, have used it for six years; used to retail for $99, but if you Google it, you'll find lots of on-line sources for around $50-$60. The d:s ratio is 6:1, so you don't have to get in close. Terrific diagnostic tool.
