I need to get an organizational system in place for the basement. Are there any roll cabs cheaper than HF worth having? What do you all do?

Ryan, I've picked up a few Kennedy rolling cabinets from FB Marketplace.
Best buy was a top and bottom for $100 total.
A couple others for roughly $100 each.
They're good boxes. I get them, pull the drawers, clean and lube the slides, then put them back together.
I have one base that is not a roller, I put it on a HF dolly as a temporary fix. 2 years later, it's still on the dolly.

I'd recommend you buy a decent use unit, clean it up, and use it. Down the road you can trade up/down or repair and purdyfy it with a rattle can paint job.

Good luck!

Ever see a Kennedy workbench? I found this one for free. I added some better legs to it, and a plywood top. It doesn't need any thicker of a top as it won't be used for pounding on it. It was improperly assembled, so I fixed that, and then made the legs. After I was done with this one, I found one for sale on social media locally with an asking price of $450! Mine is stronger-supported.

Here's how I store my pipe clamps. I don't need them that frequently so this works well, using space not on the floor or on a shelf. I have a mezzanine on the rear-half of my traditional attached 2-car garage. The cast-iron shelving brackets were a yard sale find I had for awhile before I decided to use them here.

Its amazing how many tools and hardware items you accumulate over the years. I use a lot of storage cabinets and shelves and compartment boxes for smaller items. At age 70, I've started writing down where everything is. I have a lot of items I'm giving away if anyone is in the northern NJ area (stuff I don't see I'll ever use again and hate to throw in the trash).
OK, you talked me into it. I'll take the cabinet where all that stuff is in. ;)
