I have a ton of old National Geographic, Popular Mechanix (or is it Mechanix Illustrated? :headscrat) and similar mags that have lots of great old tool ads. I am thinking about carefully cutting them out and scanning them, or maybe framing the coolest among them. Maybe we could have a sticky with nothing by vintage scanned ads. They are pretty awesome.

Yeah they are awesome, reminds you of better and simpler times. I used to live near an older guy that used to do the art work for those old ads, the guys drawing ability was absolutely incredible.

Bull- that would be very cool if you cut those out and framed them, (also would make a kick azz thread)!

Not trying to start a fight BUT fishing with a cheep reel is like using a cheep ratchet.
IT *****

I can't imagine more of a waste of money than paying more than $10 for a rod and reel at a yard sale. People who need expensive rods and reels and fancy lures and bait are doing something that looks like fishing, but isn't.

Help help I don't have an 80 tooth ratchet and can't change my plugs.:headscrat

To each their own. I will admit that you can change your plugs with a 10 dollar ratchet but you can't catch a BIG fish with a 10 dollar reel. Hook a 100 pound black tip shark with that 10 dollar reel and let the fun begin. 10 dollar reels are for small fish. You have fun with the bream and I keep on catching the one that got away from you.

I head out 150+ miles out of San Diego. When we hook into tuna.... a $10 reel will get smoked quick! Maybe that kind of setup works on a pond fishing for bluegills...but not for offshore fishing on my boat!

Danglerb, your a fellow Socal guy, your more than welcome to come out on my boat sometime and put it to the test? If you can pull a cow in with a cheapo swap meet setup, I will buy you a F80, heck I would buy you 5 of em! I would love to see that.

Ads more than 50 years old for defunct businesses can be printed as posters.
Yes, I can take the scanned image and print it 18 x 24 for you.
