I know it's tradition to build your own welding cart but...

Firepower 1444-0407 welding cart. Small step up from Harbor Freight's basic model. Has a nicer handle to pull it around.

Amazon has them for $97.73

Napaonline.com has them on sale. Normally $154.99 on sale for $54.99.

Not sure how long the sale lasts. I got mine in two days.

Just throwing it out there. I'm sure it's made of the finest Chinesium.

It’s not so much a “tradition” per se. it’s just that the mere fact that one purchases a welding machine kind of lends itself to the DIY vibe.

No offense but I have more respect for the shittiest home built cart (even using repurposed materials) than a store bought cart no matter how cheap it was.

That looks great for $55. I'd rather spend $100 on a cart if I like the layout then spend a day making the same thing. Which is why I have an old HF one.

I ended up getting the HF Vulcan cart which was around $100, it's a bit larger than their cheaper version and a bit sturdier IMO.

BTW, can't use a coupon on the Vulcan stuff.

My first welding project was to make a cart. I used angle iron, sheet metal and some scrap metal found at a metal salvage. I traded a used car battery for metal. They wanted the lead. I used rubber tires on it so it can go outside. Far better then the sheetmetal cart that can be purchased.

In my case, I just have a Lincoln 100HD. I just converted it to gas and have a large argon tank now.

Have a stack of projects that need welding waiting on the gas conversion (mostly sheet metal stuff). I didn't need another one pushed to the top of the list because I need a cart.

When I was using flux core, it was no problem to set the machine on the floor. Now I have a hose to a large tank that, if it fell, could easily dent a car or my head. Last thing I need is for me to trip over the gas hose and send the argon tank into the side of my truck. For $50, it's worth it to me to buy a mediocre cart that will secure the welder and the tank and let me start on the projects I need.

Plus I don't have any scrap sitting around right now that is really usable for a cart.

For me, this one makes a lot of sense, but it probably isn't the best choice for everyone or the best in the long run. If the entry HF cart looks good, then this one for a couple dollars more should be a good deal for you. YMMV.
