Cheaper Red Handled Craftsman Pry Bars

Anyone ever have any real problems with the cheaper red handled Craftsman pry bars? I have a small on the road tool box I filled with doubles and what not, but today realized I didn't have a pry bar and really needed one. So, I figured I would pick up a cheap set on eBay since I don't have any from my big box I'm willing to spare. I found a good deal on the red handled an thought I'd ask. I had the Professional series and never had a problem, but now use all Mac. I also see the 4 piece Tekton set for $17 from Home Depot. That seems pretty cheap, yet people say they make good stuff??? The Williams bars do look identical to the craftsman pros, which are made by Mayhew. Mayhew sells them as "Dominators" and many home depot's have the Mayhew Dominators on clearance right now for $13.03 if you can find them. I just picked up a set.

They're all out of stock online and only one store with 100 miles of me has them. I'd like to buy that set.

I've used the cheaper Crafty pry (as opposed to the Pro's) for several years and they've held up. I've wondered if Armstrong are made by same OEM.

I'd bet they were made by same company. I'm pretty sure the Cman hard handles are made by Wilde. The pros are made by Mayhew, but they also made plastic hard handle pry bars like the cmans in question.

I have a few of the Wilde branded ones in my box at work. I mainly use them to align seams in sheet metal. They've held up well, a good value for the price.

Ive had the red handled Craftsmans for 5 years or so. Put them through quite a bit of workout and they held up just fine.

They regularly get to 19.99 for the set of 3, it used to be only a BF thing but Ive seen it throughout the year now too.

I have a set of the red handled. Got them last year and they've been good so far. Can't argue about the price when they're on sale.

I keep the small Wilde 3pc set in my truck (these are the same ones that Kmart used to sell before they went to the offshore versions) I got them at Menards. Used them a few time already and have not had a problem.

If by cheaper red handled Craftsman pry bars, you mean the red plastic handled pry bars sold at sears without a striking cap, those are fine especially when on sale. They don't hold up well if you beat on them with a steel hammer though.

The Williams pry bars are rebadged Mayhew Dominators. The mayhew handle is shaped completely different than the craftsman pro pry bar handle. Both have a striking cap and might be black but, the similarities end there. Dominators are great pry bars for the money. Shop around for the best deal.

A cheaper version of the Mayhew line up bar set may not be worth owning. Have you checked for a wilde version?
