Cheapest J2534 pass through device that won't brick your ECU

What is the cheapest J2534 useable pass through device that works with all car brands that won't brick your ECU?

I understand the VCX Nano has bricked a few cars, and that the OBDLink is unacceptably slow, along with many of the fake OEM units.

I don't think "cheapest" is the best route here. The cost of potentially damaged or corrupted control units versus a reliable J-box doesn't add up. I would recommend biting the bullet and getting a Drewtech CarDAQ Plus 3.
