Half of me was thinking Ginsu (and I had to laugh, when he started dicing stuff), and half was thinking, this would be good as an emergency shovel, or for a Mars mission (weight verses capabilities).

Pretty impressive! My basement looks a bit like a historical museum of the western entrenching tool...if all the functions got into that thing without weakening the main hinge point or any such negatives, it is really cool. Looks like only the can opener function is a really bad design. If they want, I'll trade them a P-38 or P-51 pocket can opener for one of the shovels, and we'll both be happy.

I bet they use real metal and tempering on the stuff they make for their own Army.
If they sent a version here, though...well, we have taught them that Americans will buy anything.

Just Google China--PLA--enlistment. They will actually simply give you one after you sign the form, and provide transportation to the resort where you get it and learn how to use it! See you in four years.

That was interesting, comical and strange all at the same time. The Ponderosa (Bonanza) music was strange with the Asian guys and the Asian origin of the shovel. I wonder who they are marketing to.

Unique concepts and interesting engineering. I wonder who designed it?

This is probably the one thing we could put in last week's "what does China makes that's high quality" thread.

I agree, the stuff they make for themselves (especially the military) is probably good.

Not in to gimmick tools/utensils/etc. but it's a funny video. The captions remind me of a sign I saw in Maui.... "If wave, go surf, if flat, go dive, if people surfing NOT good snorkel." =p

I thought for sure that this was going to be 9 minutes of a Chinese guy digging a hole in the ground with his "multi-purpose" shovel.

I wonder how many chinese prisoners tested that weapon digging a "test hole" only to get a Tokarev round to the back of the head :headscrat

Thats right, the Chinese are at the forefront of building things that last. :lol_hitti

Ah yes, and the big three automakers are the symbol of making cars that last as well too? :spit:

That's why they are on the **** pile??

Pretty sure that computer you're using is made in China, and has served its purpose . . . That cell phone that you're pimping, as well . . .

Pretty much all your cloths, and electronic hardware from iPod, PSP, 360, TV, what ever you can think of . . .

Ah yes . . . Only 60,000 companies that you personally don't know which are all American, are made in China . . .:spit:

But hey they can't be making any good products that last, can they? :wtf:

When you're walking down the street in your Nike, Converse, etc sneakers or what ever you're wearing try not to trip, I am sure its made, assembled, or sourced from China . . .

Ive got one of the USA surplus shovel/spades in my auto winter emergency kit. They fold up small and its a hell of alot easier digging out of snowbank/ditch with a small shovel rather than an ice scraper, lol.

I was referring to the longevity of the shovel, not how many American companys outsource their manufacturing to China. Lighten up.

Not a bad design, I still prefer my Korean era mil surplus shovel for certain applications but I like the pliers, pry bar, and hammer head being built into the shovel like this one has.

I'm still waiting to dig out an entire complex via that little door they crafted in the cliff.
Maybe a barracks for those terra cotta soldiers...

That was a Chinese military training film. Remember, the folks that are bound and determined to see the free world fall? The folks that have Nukes pointed at US! I am sure that our military has a similar multi function tool. I'm surprised to see jokes about this. Really, I am. Think of all the things it was designed to do in a war zone. They did seem to leave out the beheading and serious injury segments though. I guess that was taught in another class.

Oh, and TEKEN, once again you generalize and put your foot in your mouth. I for one wear USA made shoes. Boots to be exact. Sure, some are made in China now, but I only by MY footwear where I know it was made in the USA. Mine are HAND MADE in Texas, by a LEGAL RESIDENT of this country. Not by some leach or person who would just as soon see me dead.
