... Let me know what you think. In case you're not familiar with rosettes, they're those square pieces of trim you see at the corners of window/door casings.

I plan on putting these around my windows and my 1 man door, alternating between the 2 designs.

Before I have my friend rip out the rest of the batch, I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. What do you think? Any ideas for improvement?

Pieces are 4" square, 3/4" poplar. Window/door casing will be 3-1/2" sanitary trim (nothing fancy)....all painted white.

Thanks!

Yea, I was going to paint them white to match the trim.

Very nice, so nice in fact, that i would consider doing your trim in natural wood tones, maybe a rich walnut or cherry stain, and let the beauty of the wood show through...just a thought, maybe easier said than done if the rest of the trim is already painted.

That is a very nice detail. I like the one on the left the best. Would your friend be interested in doing a set of Corvette crossed flags? If so what is the ballpark price?

Not sure, but I can surely ask him.

Thanks for the feedback.

BMdub,

The first step is admitting you have a problem. Those are some nice detail pieces, I'm just afraid that a Roundle tatoo is in your future!

BTW, do you know the history of the BMW logo?

Roundel tatoo, eh? Wife would kill me, but it'd be cool.

You referring to the BMW airplane prop?

First of all...very cool idea and i plan to blatently steal it.

Technically though, those are corner blocks or case blocks or case plinth blocks (the ones down by the base molding are base plinth blocks). They are often "not really correctly" called rosettes because way back when the only ones ever used had a "rosette" design pattern on them.

Be my guest. Not like I haven't stolen some ideas from others.

Yea, I know about the different terms. I just got used to saying rosettes because that's usually what I've seen/used before.

Those are sweet. You're buddy should make them in thinner stuff and sell them on the BMW forums as coasters too. ;) Going to look great though. Good stuff.

That's awesome. But you can't just paint them white. The detail will get lost. Gonna have to paint in the letters/designs. Maybe the correct BMW blue and red.

I would paint them white and highlight the lettering/design with light grey... A nice subtle touch.

Very nice! I'll take a Subaru and Mazda pretty please! :)

What's wrong with Yugos? I actually own several Yogoslavian products. They are the motorcycle "Igo" and the van "Wego"

No worries. I'm sticking with BMW (at least one) for life.
