I ran across this 1/2" ratchet at a swap meet today. Right when I saw it I knew it was made by SK. It clearly uses an SK mechanism, it has a part number used by SK (4270) and it is similar to some other SK-made ratchets.

It's somewhat similar to the Artisan-branded ratchets made by SK. Here's a photo from Alloy Artifacts.

Alloy Artifacts says both Artisan and Tiger Tools were brands sold by Gambles. AA claims the Tiger Tools brand was used by Gambles somewhere around the late 1930s and early 40s.

My googling turns up very little info about Tiger Tools and I can't find any other pics of this ratchet, so I suspect it may be a pretty rare find.

Awesome find SMKS. That's in nice shape too. I'd say Tiger Tools are seldom seen if ever. I have that same ratchet but minus the Tiger!

I Love the beefy handle on this ratchet. A bit different than the other style you posted up top that's normally seen on Chrome Alloy, Artisan and Mac that S-K made.

I've got the SK version of that rat, I inherited from my Grandfather. Have heard it called a "boat-tail" style ratchet FWIW.

Live by two MAJOR flea markets and I go every chance I get and have NEVER seen another one like it, in person.

I wonder if Tiger tools was a manufacturer of any tools or just a tool supplier with their name on tools. (like JC Penney, Craftsman) Awesome Rare Find either way! I have never heard of this ratchet with any brand other than Artisan or SK.

Tiger Tools was a house brand sold by Gambles, according to AA, which was a chain of retail stores. That would mean they didn't make anything and were just a brand name applied to tools.

It is funny that this post came up, Yesterday I was out and saw what I thought was a S&K ratchet. But it turned out to be a Life-time LS70 made in the early 60s.
It was made by crescent

The other day I was going through a small tool kit left behind in the house I bought. Found a nice pair of dykes, a small hammer that looked new, a bunch of odds and ends that went in the trash, and a horribly abused 8" adjustable wrench wrapped in tape, rather rusty, and splattered with paint. So when I cleaned up the wrench a bit just the weight of the tool and the smoothness of the adjustable jaw told me it was a quality tool. Tiger was the brand name and one I had never run across before. Did a search to find this thread. Looks like it's a keeper!
