Check valve recommendation

I've got an oil line from a bulk oil tank to a Graco Fireball lube pump that must have a tiny leak in it, no evidence of oil leaking, but it's what I think must be happening. When this oil isn't used for an hour or so the pump runs madly unloaded before oil starts to flow as the pipe is filled back with oil. I would like to add a check valve at the point of connection of the feed line to the tank. This would be in the vertical position and is a 1" line. What would be the best type of valve to use for this?

On fuel oil lines to oil fired boilers and furnaces it's common to use a spring loaded inline check valve to prevent drain back. Spring loaded checks can be mounted in any position which isn't the case with swing or lift type checks.

You'd want a valve with a WOG rating which means the valve is suitable for use with water, oils, or gases. This is a common rating for bronze valves and is normally cast into the body of the valve along with an arrow indicating direction of flow.

Should be available at most any plumbing or piping supply house.

Spring checks restrict flow more than swing checks. In the vertical orientation, a swing check should work just as well.

I've installed many and we only used spring check valves. The manufacturer specified "spring check".
Every pump we ever installed had spring checks in vertical pump discharge line.
Check with pump manufacturer.
