I've been lurking around a little for a few weeks, trying to gather some ideas before I leap in. We just bought our first house and it has a swell 14x35 garage attached, which is serviceable, but by no means finished. The plan is to get the deep half set up as a hobby fabrication shop (I do some specialized exhaust work) and leave the shallow end mostly accessible for vehicle repairs, etc.
The house has been a rental for a number of years, and with the house, we bought ourselves some peculiarities - for example, all of the outlets in the garage are switched with one of the overhead lights. There are other outlets that have no power, and other switches that don't control anything at all. Curious. I am afraid of what I am going to find as I start exploring the wiring in the house and garage. As it stands now, it looks like most of the outlets in the house share one 15A circuit breaker with the entire garage. I'm not looking forward to figuring that out, especially considering that I may want or need to upgrade the wiring to better accommodate the welder.
As you can see in the pic, I haven't even arranged anything yet. It was a big enough chore just moving in and undoing some neglect in the house itself that I'm a little worn out, and not terribly eager to start hacking through it yet. I have started on a little welding cart so that I can be more mobile than I was at the last place. Along with a picture of the garage is a pic of the cart as it sits so far, and the little Lincoln SP-125 Plus, which is what I'm building the cart with and what the cart is for. It's far from done, but I'm out of steel at the moment, and not terribly sure what to do next...

As you can (sort of) see in the first pic, I also have a little Jet 4x6 metal cutting bandsaw and an old Jet drill press that I use on my exhaust projects. I'll have to build a better stand for the saw at some point, but it is functional right now, and I want to concentrate on one or two projects at a time.
Questions or comments are welcome. I'll try to keep a low profile until I've been around a while.
