Came here through the HAMB... I am mostly a lurker now on the HAMB, but I hope to be a participant on this board.

This spring/summer I am planning a big project to divide my 28-40 garage in half (20-28). The one half will stay an unfinished mess where I will park my car and my utility trailer. The other half will become the heated shop that I have always wanted.

The garage was built by my dad and I from the ground up. (We did EVERYTHING) At the time it was put up, I was married and the budget was small. So I opted to build as big as I could and finish it later. Well 9 years later, I am finally at that point. :bounce:

It has its own 100 amp service and copper air lines around the perimeter with 7 plug in drops. Air is pushed by a Coleman 80 gal compresser. (I forget the hp.) Currently there is NO organization and I have **** in there from the last 3 project cars (all gone now). Random countertops, **** shelving that was stuck up in a hurry to put stuff on, and a non-op fridge (I think it works I just don't want to spend the electicity to run it).

I know that 20x28 is small compared to a lot of the Taj Mahals on this site, but it is all I need to putz around on project cars...

I will post a pic of the outside when I resize them for the site. I don't think I have any current pics of the inside, but I will hunt around.

Mike

Here is a pic of the outside about when it was "finished". It has gutters, and "dusk to dawn" lights on each side. The small door and window is the proposed shop area.

The inside pic is from about the same time. Sorry you can't see around the car. (The '51 has a new home in Texas.) It was replaced by a 67 Galaxie convertable, and that one went away in the divorce, so now there is a '54 Customline in that bay.

It's a damn good start, TDC.

Back in high school (late 70s) one of my best buddies had a '67 Galaxie with a 390 2 barrel. I did a gi-normous burnout in that car once, breaking the driver's side motor mount in the process.

You know what happens when the driver's side motor mount breaks on that car? The engine torques over to the passenger side far enough to pull on the throttle cable... which keeps the carburetor wide open! :shocking: That was the longest burnout I ever did in a car:3gears:, and I didn't lift until I was getting close to the turn. That's when I learned that the throttle was hung wide open!:scared:
