Again, it depends on the species of bamboo of which there are many. My clump in full sun grows shoots from spring, through summer and into fall. Seems like they all vary in their growth patterns and your ability to manage them. One size with regard to control doesn't fit all so the OP may have to use a variety of methods until he finds something that works for his type of bamboo.

The ability to control bamboo requires work, as most people avoid it. There is no wonder method or chemicals that will kill it.
The real problem is nobody understands how to control it. Currently it is getting a bad rap due to laws preventing plantings of it.
Doesn't matter the type there is really only two ways to kill it.
You might find using the UK as an example as *********** bamboo is poor they barely can get bamboo to grow there.
If you moved your bamboo to Georgia you would find a very different growth pattern.
