Hook it to a battery and then take your Electrolytic Rust Removal from a parallel connection.

Used batteries are almost free, and when I am done with them I take them to a parts store and get some store credit for the core.

When I set up my electrolysis rig, I put an ammeter in series with the low voltage wiring so that I could monitor the action. The removal of rust is roughly proportionate to the current flow. When crud gets deposited on the sacrificial electrode or electrodes, the current can drop to almost zero. Then it’s time to clean the electrodes and get back to work. The ammeter shows when It’s time to clean.

You might have an automatic charger. After you hook it up you should get an amp or two or even more flowing through your electrolysis tank. If not, it might be due to the automatic function. As said earlier by nadogail, if that happens, just put a 12 volt battery in parallel with the charger and run like that.

This might be stupid to ask, but is this charger manual or automatic? Meaning, can I use it efficiently for Electrolysis of rust? Picked it up for $2 at a thrift store!
I'm having trouble seeing if it's a manual charger from the manuals online..
Thank you!
Yes I have the same one and used it for that and charging. Batteries when I can’t find every other smarter than me chargers I have.

Only bad thing is that there is an automatic reset fuse at the bottom of the casing inside riveted in, that fuse goes bad sometimes and needs replacement $8 item at autozone.

As for electrolysis, it works fine 90% of the time at 10amp or 2 amp setting. The heavily painted or not so rusted, I need to break out the 24v power supply. Either case it is not a smart charger just a manual charger with automatic shutoff when it detects battery voltage is above certain level. It works fine without needing a battery in parallel to do electrolysis

"Exclusive through Harbor Freight" tells a story in itself. At $2 it's a good deal. Any more is questionable.
The transformer inside it self already worth that much to the right person. It’s a center tap 28v transformer with 14v to center.
