Let me start by stating that I have been heavily using the CP 90* die grinder and it is great, does what it is supposed to  But, the CP impact I have been using has less than impressed, unfortunately. So what does everybody else think of Chicago Pneumatic?

They have an import and a USA line of impacts; which one do you have?

I have been a CP fan since they invented air. I hope they haven't turned to junk when I wasn't looking.

I am not entirely sure, it is a work supplied tool that is so greasy and dirty I was surprised I could make out the brand logo :p I would imagine it is the import line, the shop air tools are mostly imports.

I think they're like everyone elsein that they make some good stuff and some other stuff that's junk. My first 1/2" impact was a cheap model that had no guts at all. I sold it on Ebay for $25 and ended up with an IR that always does what I need. I also have an old CP air hammer that is smooth as silk. The trigger is superb.

I have several CP air tools, a 744, 860, 828, these have given me great service. 1/2 impact, die grinder, 3/8 ratchet. Plus a couple others but the numbers escape me right now. Great tools IMO.

I'm just waiting for someone to say something about Harbor Freight's air tools. Just to head that off ahead of time, those are "Central Pneumatic." :)

99% of my air tools are CP but I was beginning to think that I was the only one on the GJ that had CP air tools; because (1) they never get mentioned and (2) everybody goes ape **** for either IR or snap on tools.

Glad to hear someone else likes CP tools!

I've used CP air tools for the entire 24+years I've been an aircraft mechanic. I do structures work so I generally use them every working day. In that time I had to replace one 90 degree die grinder and one 1/4" air ratchet. They were replaced with CP stuff. I think that sums it up.

And while we are in here, what CP impact do you guys recommend for a guy who works on older cars in a rusty part of the country?
