I am getting ready to install my wood stove in my new metal shop. I want to go out through the wall about 10 feet off the floor and then continue up once outside. I think I need something that I need to install where the chimney goes through the sheet metal wall, but don't know what it is called or where to get it. I'd appreciate some advice if someone can help me. Thanks.

It is a wall thimble. Look at the Dura vent site. they have all kinds of drawings that will identify each component and where it goes. Selkirk does too.

A wall thimble and tee are the most expensive pieces of a class A chimney. Plus it uses more class A chimney. It does have the advantage of an exposed clean out that can be opened and the the chimney brushed from the bottom. Back in the day when I was installing 20 systems a week we didn't have these metal roof boots. Is there a reason you don't want to go straight up through the roof? You will have better draft straight up.

Thanks to everyone. I didn't realize that it would cost that much to go through the wall. I just hate to put a hole through my roof and risk a leak. With the insulation, I might never see the leak.

It's almost fool proof with the correct materials. I did mine and I have a 6th grade education. This type of flange seal is the way to go. Here's the ceiling support box test fit.

The reason it costs so much is because it's worth it. It'll probably cheaper than your home owner's insurance deductible.

I have been installing stovepipe for 24 years on the waste oil heaters I sell and have zero leaks.

Straight up is the best way to do it. Dektite rubber boots make life easy. I also prefer the Selkirk Ultra-Temp type HT pipe and roof support package that is very easy to install.

The RSP is a 18" piece of all fuel pipe with wings on it. Those wings set on top of the roof and you screw it down and that supports the pipe. Very easy and clean install.

You drop the pipe through the hole in the roof and the wings rest on the roof. There is already holes in the wings to screw it down. Then you get the correct size Dektite to cover everything up and seal it.

It goes through the shop metal ceiling/roof. This will allow class A pipe through the roof on one end and stove pipe from the stove into the bottom of the support box.

Ceiling support boxes are designed for applications where you have a ceiling and joists on 16" centers.

The RSP is for metal buildings like what the OP has.

Questions for Shop Specialties. 1) Hoe do you install this on the top of the roof. The bends in the roof panels at too close together for the wings to fir snug against the roof. Could they be installed from underneath? 2) where can I find one if these?

Sorry for the delay this is my busy time. If you can center the pipe on a ridge that helps. If you cannot center on a ridge or the wings are to big you can either cut the wings down or put a wood block spacer under the low wing to level it. 9x out of 10 I have been cutting the wings before I even get on the roof and have had zero issues with 6 screws holding down the RSP.

Any place that sells Selkirk pipe can get this. I buy all my pipe from a wholesaler called Gensco. Have you checked your local hardware stores yet ?

The RSP package can be mounted below the roof, with a little fabrication to your roof trusses. Clamp a couple lengths of some 4" channel across them and them bolt them in. Set the RSP wings and you are set...except for that pesky hole in the roof.

Why do you guys have to make it so complicated ? 4" channel, bolting, framing, etc, none of this necessary unless you have nothing else better to do. Does anybody not believe in the "KISS" method of doing anything anymore ?
