Does anyone have REAL experience with the inexpensive ($1800 ) lifts that are sold by Amazon....HAVE YOU ACTUALLY bought and used one?
i need a lift for my new home, it has a 22' x 22' garage and I want to PARK one car Porsche Boxster (#3000) over my BMW E30 convertible...(also about #3000, sometimes on top)
Are these "cheap" lifts BAD ? for this kind of use?

I have "a" Chinese lift but not the one you are looking at. I really have nothing bad to say about it. I do feel that most lifts are made in China these days.

I have a C7000 Triumph.

I have a cheap Chinese lift. 2 post, 9000lb. $1500 new. Lifted my Silverado dually, wife's SUV, and my Wrangler, many times. 8 years old now, only issue I had was a cracked fluid reservoir. Seems it wasn't very sunlight resistant. (the lift is outdoors)
The only issue I have with Chinese steel is when its CAST STEEL. That stuff never seems to hold up. I don't think anything on the lifts is cast though.

I have one of the 8K (parking) 4-posts, less than $2K, picked up at the warehouse, put together myself with cherry picker help. Have had it 2 years this Feb, outside on apron and no problems so far.

For parking you should be looking at 4 post lifts. I got a BendPak HD9 lift 3 years ago and the only problem I had was the grit used to give you traction on one of the the runners was not dried and the paint bubbled and peeled. One of the big advantages of 4 post lifts is you don't have to bolt them down and its easy to move them.

I bought an Auto Lift from best buy auto equipment, which I believe is made by an overseas company called Tuxedo. I believe they're branded under three different names upon most of the "common sellers" you see here in the US. In fact, I believe one of the common sellers puts a $500 markup above the others, even though the specs are identical and the owners manuals are even written nearly identically. So it's either a great copy, or it really is made by the same people...

Installed my HD-9 about a month ago. I went 4-post because a vehicle has not fallen off of one. Besides, I'm old and don't like rummaging on the floor looking for lift points.

As I researched for a lift I did see a lot of the econo lifts. The more I dug into the specs the more I realized that there are only about 3 builders of them and lots of people just private label them as if it was theirs.

All but one of the 4-post lifts had the pin that was needed to attach the casters. The one had the pin welded to the post. So, there it was out there to attach your ankle. Some people put foam sleeves on them to lessen the attack. I eliminated that design from my search criteria.

If I was only parking than the econo lifts would have been ok for me.

But, in the end, the need and the checkbook have to meet up.

I organized the group buy here on GJ in 2017 for 7 lifts. These were the in-ground and surfaced mounted scissor lifts, dual platform.
Mine has been fine so far. The instructions are a bit lacking, but I got it all worked out. The packing was atrocious - lots of damage due to poor packing.
The marking (to distinguish the final destination of each item) was terrible.
If you're only buying one lift, the marking is a non-issue. If you're picking up from a warehouse, you can refuse it if the damage is too great or perhaps negotiate a lower price.
