Choosing a steel truss building

I am trying to choose a steel building truss (clear span) building manufacter.

I am in Central Illinois. I have received information from Miracle Truss, Adams Truss & Perka.

My building will be approximately 36' x 54' x 12'. I do plan on insulating the building.

Has anyone had experience with any of these companies? Do any of them have building crews to erect the building or are you pretty much on your own with all three?

I bought my package from Adams Truss. I got the trusses, insulation, and metal from them. I contracted the concrete work and erected the building myself. My shop is 30' x 40' with 10' high walls. Based on my experience, erecting anything wider than 30' definately requires a forklift, backhoe, or other mechanical means of lifting. I used rented scafolding and pulled the trusses up with a rope and a ground helper. I would catogorize myself as an "advanced" do-it-yourselfer and did not encounter anything in the build that I could not handle.

I was 100% pleased with my building
www.outbacksteelbuildings.com
There are different dealers for them and I used
www.ameribuiltsteel.com
He beat another dealer by $1,300 for exactly the same building.
I really liked the screws they send to use....
Mine was 30x52x9 with doors incl for right at $13000
Hope that helps.......neat design.....dummy proof sort of.

I have a bid from Miracle Truss on a 30x50x12 for $22,000.
I also have a bid from Adams Truss on a 30x50x12 for $11,000.

Both bids include insulation, 1 overhead door (10'x12') and 1 entry door.

I am building a new house right next to the building, so I definitely want this building to look good and hold up to the elements over the next 20-30 years.

I have been told by one person that "you get what you pay for". I do not want to go with the "cheap" building and not be happy with it.

I would like to hear more opinions on which option to choose.

Is Miracle Truss really twice as good as Adams?

Thanks...

My "outbacksteel" building did not include the insulation.
But it does include the purlins "steel" that I know you have to add to the miracle and Adams trusses systems.....of course the outback is not a true truss system but it is clearspan.
They had the options that you could have them design it to use any type of siding you want. The sheeting is NOT figured into the structure of the building so I was able to use skylites without any problems.
I will try yo get some pics posted sometime soon.
It may seem like a long time "I broke ground in mid August" but I have done all the work myself mostly by myself with the exception of the concrete pour and it has only been weekend work so I have just started using it to park in.....

I don't have one, so this is all second hand. But I see a lot of them as I travel.
From what I have seen Miracle Truss seems to be, as advertised, one of the strongest buildings out there. Their hurricane survival stories tell that side.
But they are not the best looking buildings out there. You will not mistake them for anything but a metal building. For some reason the pole building guys have more to chose from when it comes to style.
In central Illinois you do not have real extreme weather. Just the occasional, wet and heavy snow. And everybody should be able to design for that.
So, a lot of your choice will come down to how important is style to you?

On my Miracle Truss Bldg., I choose not to get the roof or sides from them. All I am getting is the 30x30 w/12ft side, trusses and hardware. The Miracle Truss Bldg. use wood purlins, so I plan on finishing the roof and sides with OSB/Plywood, with vinyl siding and shingles, to match an extention to our house. So when finished it will look stick built from the outside, not a steel building, but I will have the open height that I need inside.

This sounds like a very good idea. Did Miracle Truss give you a fair discount to leave out the steel walls and roof?

Has anyone else done this (Miracle Truss frame with vinyl siding and shingles)?

My brother and I have recently completed two Miracle Truss buildings and neither of us have been satisfied with many of the small details. For a simple building, it's probably fine but our two pitch roof designs appear to be a first for them.

Both of our roofs leak and they've modified their materials and since my original building still don't have a way to join two roof lines.

I also had several parts that were not correct and without a proper delivery schedule it makes for a lot of finger pointing and phone descriptions of the problem before anyone acknowledges the issue.

Also, sales was very responsive before the check but immediately dumped me to a Jr. engineer for any technical issues. The speed they transfer a non-money making call will make your head spin.

Sorry to be so negative as a noob, and frankly this is my first steel building, but far from my first construction project.

Do you happen to still have the plans for your miracle truss building. I purchased one never erected and I am in of the plans. Thanks for your time.
