Choosing between a Quincy or Jenny wheelbarrow compressor

So I'm looking for something portable for my service truck that I can use for blowing out intersection traffic cabinets of the dust and **** that accumulates inside. I've been using a gas powered blower which for the most part takes care of the bulk of the garbage but trying to use something a bit more concentrated to clean out in and around equipment.

My truck won't fit a truck mounted compressor with the bed cover I have on it so I was looking at a gas powered wheelbarrow unit. I know they are pretty much geared for framers but being that these are only 8 gallon units, not sure if these will be way underkill for using primarily a blow gun attachment. It will only be used maybe 30-45 seconds per cabinet but I've been given the option of either of these two units and both are single stage...

Quincy G15H8WQ - 5.5HP Honda 8-Gallon 9.5CFM @ 90PSI

Jenny K5HGA-8P - 5.5HP Honda 8-Gallon 8.9CFM @ 100PSI

Granted I could try for as small an orfice blow gun as I can get to save some CFM but still not sure if this will be a waste of money or how often it's going to run just to keep up. Not sure if I can budget a 2-stage model...

If this idea will work, what are your thoughts on either unit?

If Quincy is still made the way they use to be then that would be my choice. We have Quincy compressors at work that are over 25 yrs old that runs/cycles all time. Change oil and filter your good to go

I've been rocking an almost 40 y/o Sanborn 60 Gal upright and while it's not the greatest CFM wise, it's built like a tank. Doing regular oil changes but it has seemed lately to take a bit longer to get to full pressure. No leaks so hopefully it may just be some sticky reeds.

I do like the construction of the larger modern Quincy standups but have heard mixed reviews on their smaller units. Not a whole lot on their gas units though.

Does my idea using either of the two wheelbarrow units strictly for blowing things off seem underkill with those size tanks and CFM ratings?

Between those two models I would select the Jenny because of the cast iron pump. Just look at the weight of the 2 units!

On the Quincy you are probably just buying the name. That thing has likely no relationship to the big Quincy pump we usually think about, just the sticker.

I heard many negative reviews about Qunicy's lower end models. but their upper models are great, this applies to other manufactures as well.

I used the Emglo's (now Jenny) for years back when I was framing and they are very reliable units.
I am a Quincy QR series guy, but have not had much experience with their lower $ lines. If I had to pick one for myself, it would be the Jenny. You could always piggyback one of the 10-12 gal. portable air tanks to the Jenny / Quincy to add a little more time between cycles.

When Jenny was Emglo their wheel barrow compressors were the absolute bomb. They would outlast their owners. Don't know if Jenny has screwed the pooch like Quincy has but if they haven't they're the answer.

also rol-air make good units. i personally would avoid quincy, not sure who the pump is made by. if it’s an italian pump, it might be ok. but the jenny and rol-air are top of the line, and would provide the best service. also if you have a northern tool store, there gas wheel barrow is decent, and moves a lot of air.

^^^this, Jenny and Rol-air have been making great products in this sector for a long time. A lot of manufacturers of high end products supplement their product range by re-badging cheap low end outsourced products. IMO, Quincy seems to be one of those manufacturers.

Full disclosure, I have an Emglo-Jenny wheelbarrow compressor but it is a big one, gas powered 2 stage.

I will add a vote for Rolair, they use a Chinook pump (italian as others have said). I had a chance to tear one down once and it seemed decent, for what that's worth.

We have 2 rigs with Jenny's, they seem fine, we have a Rolair too, it's a nice unit. I have a Hitachi on my rig, I think it's 9.5-10 CFM somewhere in there, does just fine with blowguns.

Great, thanks everyone for the replies.

I stopped and looked at both units again at our local dealer and yes I agree, the Quincy does seem to be built much more light weight compared to the Jenny. The tanks feel pretty much the same but what stood out to me was the the Cast Iron pump on the Jenny vs. the Aluminum pump on the Quincy. Built nothing like the Quincy QT-54 that I am looking to eventually get for my garage which is also a Cast Iron pump.

So picking up the Jenny today..
