I picked up an older Makita chop saw (Model 2412N) pretty cheap but didn't notice that it was missing the outer flange.
Unfortunately the part is no longer available.
I'm just wondering if anyone that has a different chop saw such as a Dewalt or some other brand if you could measure the flange spindle hole and outer diameter and hopefully I can find one that will fit.
Part 61 in this diagram.

Thanks.

Sorry, just moved my Makita slider to the shop, cant measure but....

im all for keeping things OEM, but this flange seems like a generic part that you can find about anywhere. Modify the center hole if needed?

Ebay would be a good start too.

Thanks for the replies.
I searched quite a bit and couldn't find anyone that had them.
My local dealer didn't have any chop saws and won't order a different one without paying for it. I'll try the mmtools site.

Can't a guy just use a regular fender washer w appropriate ID ?

And double check it stays tight in use.

At least temporarily anyway.

I would think any Saw blade industrial supplier may have generic ones in diff sizes.

fender washers don't work, the id needs to be machined to match the shaft, otherwise it will vibrate when running since it is out of balance. same with bench grinders.

OP if you measure the inside flange or at least the shaft with some calipers you could search for ".625xx" ID machined arbor flange" and probably find something. that's what I did for an older saw missing the flange I fixed once upon a time. there's a buttload of them on evay.

I wouldn't trust a fender washer. lots of side load on that . I would be afraid of bending & blade loosens. the original flange is thick & hard for a reason.
the arbor on the saw is probably 1" ?
is the end of the shaft round or his it got a machined edges on it to stop the flange from spinning??

The end of the shaft is round. It's 5/8. The inside flange, which I have, is keyed.
I got side tracked and let this slide. I'm going to order the one from MMTools.
Thanks

So turns out MM tools just orders stuff from the manufacturer if they don't have it in stock, which they didn't even thought they said they did.
Anyways, after waiting a couple of weeks I called and they said they couldn't get it so they cancelled my order. 3 weeks later my credit card that I used along with my email gets stolen and about $1000 worth of stuff gets charged to it. That's the only site I've used both my CC and my email so I'm pretty sure it was hacked from them. Just thought I should mention that in case anyone else deals with them.

FYI many credit card companies now allow you to generate a virtual number for one-time online purchases. If a website's info gets hacked, your credit card info is unusable to the hackers.

Thanks.

Since you already have the saw try going to Home Depot and see if the one by you stocks the flange for dewalts miter saws. The stores by me stock one and from what I can tell will work. If anything try it out if it doesn’t work just take it back.
