That's a sweet ride. I've always been partial to that body style, since my dad's first was a '66. It never looked that good.

Royce, now you need a trailer that matches the Dodge so you can tow the '55 to all the local shows.

Ouch that hurt but not the first time someone thought it is a Dodge. I do have my dads old open car trailer that is painted to match.

For the record my dodge and my enclosed are already the same color [emoji4].

Sorry, enough being a smart ***. I agree it would be awesome to have my enclosed painted to match the 65 Ford. May happen someday.

Those are government forest service kinda vehicles. Typical Idaho ranch truck. :pimpflash

This one was a forest service truck. Was original paint and a very solid and straight truck when my dad got it. Was a 2wd, step side with an in-line six. We only seen one other in person prior to the internet so I wouldn’t say too typical in our parts of Idaho.

It was in a salvage yard (had been in the yard for a few years). My dad upholstered seats in an old Chevelle for the yard owner in trade for the truck.

Royce, please accept my sincere apology (the second thing to go is memory and I can't remember what goes first but it is probably the eyes). Almost every picture you posted had FORD in the middle of it. My foggy old eyes apparently saw this:

No apology needed. I was just joking around. I knew what truck you thought it was. Back when he first built it, it happened all the time. To us it didn’t look anything like a Dodge. I used to think the Dodges were ugly compared to the Ford but taste changes with age (or maybe it’s just the eyes as you mentioned) since I now like the Dodges also.

Even though it's a Ford (A very cool one btw) the first thing I thought of was the old sixty something Dodge w 200 power wagon my dad had when I was a kid. It was a regular cab long box with the small rear window and pie plates. Very faded red with the big skinny mud and snow tires and a bunch of levers sticking out of the floor. That truck was just Grrrrrr when you were 7 or 8. Thanks for sharing your truck!

Finally assembled the Mack and have it ready to send down the road. The owner will bring the remaining trim pieces and emblems to install when he picks it up.

As usual awesome job!. Do you still have your old dent side?

Thanks. I do still have the dent side. I had so many things going on that needed room so I took the dent side and van to Idaho for winter storage. Still haven’t picked them up. Hopefully will get them back in the next couple weeks.

All of these are great projects, was just looking at the COE. What method do you use to remove the paint and rust to get to bare metal? Just picked up a '59 Ranchero which is more rust than paint, but it needs some serious TLC.

Thanks, John

I use many methods depending on the condition. My most used is an eight inch foam pad on a buffer with 80 grit paper for the big areas, the poly strip wheels in several configurations for the smaller hard to get areas and sand blasting (depending on location) for heavy pitted areas and really hard to get areas. Also like to strip as many layers off as possible with a razor blade when the conditions are right.

Thanks for the info on your prep work. The finished products are outstanding! They're all cool, but really looking forward to the finished COE.
Thanks, John

Thanks guys. Been playing all week but plan to get serious again soon.

Now for my distraction.

Brought this home Sunday. It’s my dads daily driver he finished building in 94 and drove daily until 2010 when he passed away. He put just over 100,000 miles on it. Been sitting in his garage ever since. Checked/topped off all the fluids and gave it a once over then put it back on the road. Starts and runs like it never missed a beat. Even still has his Credence Clearwater CD in the stereo. Took my girls to soccer yesterday and drove to work today. Looking like I got a new daily.

Couldn’t be happier about this truck.
