Hello I am in the planning stage of a building hoping for final approval very soon.
Going to build a 100 x 60 and the numbers coming in are staggering . I just can not get passed the pricing low bid 142,000, high bid 165,000.00 and no concrete.
I can buy a kit on ebay for around 40,000.00 but as you can see the huge price difference has me concerned.

anyone have experience with online Steel Building Compines ?

Are you talking just parts for both? Sounds like the big numbers are complete building. Usually labor will be close to just parts.

Yes the big numbers are erected on site with no concrete. Labor is around 42,000.00 to erect. The building erectors do not want to put up buildings they did not sell and you can see why it really cuts into their profits.

Sounds like you are talking about a metal building. Are you looking at the "corrugated "half a culvert"" type of buildings, or of a standard channel steel, red "iron" and sheet metal building?

Metal buildings, that look very similar can be very different in quality and price. you have to look at the quality of the building, what will and will not come with it, and who will erect it and how good they are. Personally you need to look at buildings made by your potential suppliers to see how they are constructed. This is not something you can do on an Ebay bid and get quality and what you want.

Your concrete work will be the largest single expense outside of the building itself. Figuring a monolith pour, with reasonable footers and piers, you are looking at some 100 yards of cement, or more, at probably $100 a yard , plus forming and finishing cost, rebar, etc, probably $15,000 for the slab, possibly more (I'm figuring a minimum four inch slab, go six inch for heavy trucks and tractors and you are looking at $20K to $25K). Then there is dirt moving and digging, erection costs, options such as garage doors, insulation, and windows, all add to the cost of the building as they require additional framework, and even basic electricity, and in a building this large, a bathroom?

Actually a 6000 sq ft building probably will run around $150K with concrete, turnkey. Sounds like your quotes are high, but we don't know where you are, you might be paying a winter premium or have high costs due to location, distance, etc.

Tell us more.

The erectors don't want someone elses problems. If you sell someone something, and something isn't right, you lose some of your profit to make it right and hopefully get compensated by the building mfg. If you buy the building and expect someone else to put it up, and there are problems, who is going to pay to fix the problem, and who is going to haggle with the mfg about reimbursement for the fix? Building companies do mess up, mine did, and welded some tabs on the red iron, 1 ft too high. We ended up drilling new holes, and they also messed up on welding the foot plate on a c channel column. I had bought the building direct from the mfg. luckily my erector had worked with this company alot and it was no problem, he fixed the problems and they reimbursed them directly and I stayed out of it, but it could have been a mess, with me paying.

The prices still sound high unless you speced a real tall bldg or lots of doors, etc.

I got my 50X100X16 building from www.Steelbuilding.com are they the best ?? I have no idea, ( they are now owned by mbci one of the largest building suppliers in the US) but I would buy another from them if I was looking to get another building. I had no problems with any of the red iron frames all were built as planed and no rework was needed. As for erection of the building I put mine up myself and I don't recommend that to any one:) You can check out the building project below in my link ( this site) Other than a few options I got a top notch building from them, If I had it to do over I would change a few things and maybe look into a standing seam roof $$$ other than that I'm happy...
