So 2x a year I place an order with Cripe Distributing- my birthday and Christmas. This is this year’s Christmas haul-
1- An Armstrong 3/8 breaker bar that I plan on switching into a RHFT ratchet by swapping out the mechanism from an Easco flex head (love that Armstrong handle)
2- a pair of 24” long Hawera 5/8 hammer drill bits
3- a pair of Ideal crimping pliers, #35-5431
4- Ac delco brand 2/3 jaw 4” puller
5- Napa 32 oz ball peen hammer
Total order including shipping was just under $85

i look at Cripe's shop on Ebay pretty much daily to see what has been added. I place a few orders a year through them. I'd probably buy more, but the shipping really adds up, which probably is good because it keeps me from buying things that I may not really need to buy.

yes, i know that. it still adds up to some pretty steep shipping fees if you want a dozen or so things.

Do they still have their super secret GJ discount code? Last time I ordered, the nice lady on the phone gave it to me (again) and I put it on my bulletin board where I wouldn't misplace it and ......

Haven’t ever used that website but it’s good to hear about this must be like eBay where you can get used stuff because Armstrong is out of business now.

Nope, their stuff will be new, albeit some times the packaging might be bent or scuffed some. Just stock that they have bought and are reselling. There used to be a history lesson on who and how they have evolved at their website.

ETA.... Still there....

ABOUT US

Cripe Distributing is a family owned and operated company that started in Lakeside, California. Ron’s passion is to always find the best prices on everything whether it be for home or work. Trying to keep our prices low in our cabinet shop Ron started looking for deals on the consumable items. He was able to find some deals on saw blades and router bits and started buying up what he could. But he didn’t stop there. Before we knew it he had our cabinet shop full along with many storage units in the neighborhood. We would sell the excess inventory to the local businesses and spent many weekends at our local swap meet. But we needed a bigger audience because Ron was on a mission to find great deals and pass them on to as many people as he could. So in 2000 we started listing our items on eBay and a few years later we had our first website. By 2004 we were busting at the seams. We needed to find a larger warehouse but knew finding one in California was just not economical. So Ron finally won his battle in trying to convince Debbie to move out of California. Debbie mentioned she had a sister in Idaho so Ron jumped on his computer to see the cost of homes and the availability of warehouses and it looked pretty good. So in September 2004 he sent Debbie off on a solo trip to Boise to see what she could find. She returned the next day and let Ron know that they now owned a home in Nampa Idaho and had a group of warehouses just behind the Boise airport. (A 17 mile commute) In December 2004 we packed up the Cabinet Shop and all of those storage units and moved into our beautiful home and what we thought was a huge warehouse.

Fast forward 10 years and those 4 warehouses behind the Boise Airport are stuffed to the gill and we have added 6 more warehouses around town along with one in Tennessee and 25 Cargo Containers. We have lots of inventory to offer and have new shipments coming in on a regular basis. We ship out approximately 10,000 retail orders each month and do our best to have them shipped within 1 business day. (We do have occasional slip ups though)

Our goal is to offer name brand tools and more at about half of the price of the major hardware stores. We strive to offer exceptional customer service so if ever you feel you are not getting this service. Please do not hesitate to call us.

Thank you to those customers that have continued to stand by us thru our website hic ups.

I've bought a few things from them. Shipping often takes them out of the running for me.

Agreed. Not their fault, shipping has just become absurdly expensive over the years. But it's hard to pay 50%+ of the item price in additional shipping costs, and that's just USPS.

Which is too bad. I've bought some wrenches from them before. They are a good source for made in USA tools. Shipping costs keeps me from doing business with them however.

Edit:// Example... 3 items in my cart, total is $17.75 but shipping is $12.82 via USPS; The cheapest shipping option.

Strongly recommend you calling them directly over the phone and they will give you there lowest price possible and will discount even more if you go direct compared to using eBay. Just tell them you were going to use eBay and they'll pass the savings to the customer from skipping eBay fee's (at least they use to). Also ask for the best possible and lowest shipping price total.

There system is not very good at totaling combined items giving a higher shipping cost, so call them and they'll sort you out.

They're very good at helping the customer get the lowest price but you have to call them. Ive been using them since 2013.

Oh ok great found another site to use then. It must be old stock since they aren’t made anymore.

Correct, A while back I was able to score on a bunch of very good Bosch hex bits, drill bits, all kinds of orbital sanding paper and a ton of grinder multi tool attachments, all were from the old world made in Swiss, Italy and Germany for pennies. The price was so good that I doubled my order. To this day, I'm still using some of it.

Also check for Apex and Zephyr bits. I scored a bunch that were labeled military spec and aviation codes on the bags.

Cripe has been good about listing good COO for each item. They usually list it if its from a good country; otherwise mute when not.

Finding the good old stock is the key since now a days getting the high quality made items from the old world and USA before companies switched production to asia. Especially all those expandables that we go through every year. Just takes a bit of time going through their website to find the cherries since they have so many different items and some totally random so be patient. I found Cripe really useful replenishing my expendables like the very common used drill bits like 1/4" & 1/8" bits and other things like that buying multiples.

Right now they have a lot of good german made masonry and hammer drill bits for cheap.

Not sure if Bree still works there but she was great dealing with my orders over the phone.

Been buying stuff here and there from them for years. They do combine shipping on multiple items, but you have to ask for a total. The times I have corresponded with them, they've been great.
