I’m seeing plenty of Halloween,still more than 60 days out. I wish I could believe it was spirit of the season but I know it’s just old fashioned greed.

Here, in this southern US college town, I can identify 4 distinct seasons in the local Walmart:
- Spring (denoted by seed packets, garden hoses, and outdoor grills): starts December 26
- 4th of July (denoted by US flags, lawn chairs, a lack of spring flowers/vegetable plants): starts immediately after Memorial Day
- Welcome back students (Denoted by dorm fridges, mirrors, ironing boards (?), futon type seating): starts July 5
- Christmas: starts September 1

I doubt stores would put out holiday stuff so early if customers were not buying the stuff that early.

I turned 80 in March and it is already middle of Aug. If it is going to keep going like this I'am going to be OLD before I know it.

Hobby Lobby already had tons of stuff out for Christmas when I was there last week. My first thought was, "It's August, stupid; and a lot of stores aren't even done putting out Halloween yet!" Walmart here mostly has back-to-school stuff in the seasonal section at present, and there's still plenty of July 4th leftovers.

Craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s tend to put out holiday stuff early so crafters have time to make stuff before the holiday. I have seen complaints from crafters if Christmas stuff isn’t out by July 4th.
