I was on a different SO truck the other day, noticed alot of socket sets the chrome was kinda piss poor looking. I was wondering if he was getting a bad batch or is he ordering blems selling for new prices.

define "piss poor looking". If you mean just the overall color Snap-On has shifted over the last few years to a dark chrome about on par with the finish on Craftsman USA items.

Maybe chrome quality wasn't the right phrase, metal or finish quality. I was ready to pull out the plastic then seen how they looked. Changed my mind quickly, also he has alot of poorly stamped ratchets, like the s in snap on isnt on there at all.

That's strange. I've been postulating the purchase of a 3/8ths Snappy hard-handle (yellow) and all of the stuff I've seen thusfar has looked top-rate other than the chrome being kind of wonky in color. Otherwise, no issues to report.

Welcome to the US made tool companies! Quality, just doesn't look like it. Proto seems to be the best for chrome, just wish their detents were all correctly placed.

They cannot buy blemish product, they can buy truck worn which they will sell at a discount. But no, blemish products go straight back in the melting pot.

Im not seeing that top notch quality in some of the tools on that truck. Like I said before some ratchets are stamp poorly, missing letters, some of those socket sets didn't look as good as some china made stuff. I was gonna buy a few things but couldn't justify the price for the quality or looks of them.

Chinese Cfraftsman chrome flaking off before it has left the retail shelf.

No surprise here.

I have been seeing the same thing on the truck lately
No flaking chrome but a lot of pits in the forgings are clearly visible.
The chrome is still good though or at least it appears to be..

I actually just bought an adjustable wrench that is pitted but I got $25 knocked off after busting my truck guys balls about it not being snap on quality..

Minus the price haggling at the end of the day I dont care as long as the tool performs reliably like it should..
