I'm curious, Anyone know which tool manufacturers still use hexavalent chrome? thanks

I would suppose none in North America or Europe since it is considered a heavy metal and will cause issues with ground water. There may be other countries that still allow it, but in the auto world we can't even use it on the vehicle, no matter where it was made.

What about all the companies that have their tools made in China? They seem to have NO safety standards at all!

Probably a lot of tool comapnies still deal with Hex chrome. CR V is a byproduct/additive in a lot of plating, forging and welding operations. Its not just for chrome plating!

cr-v is a carbon steel, which has a small amount of chromium, and an even smaller amount of vanadium in the make up. not a plate.

hexavalent chrome is a chroming process with chromic anhydride, as is trivalent chrome a process using chromium sulfate.
