Chuck key replacement?

I have a drill press that the chuck key is worn out on. It is a late 70's-early 80's model that I think was sold by Fleet Farm. The chuck is stamped "60 M/M (5/8") JT3". The chuck key has no markings but the has 11 teeth. The local tool and hardware stores don't carry anything this large. I've checked ebay and any online site I could think of but no luck. Any suggestions?

The one thing that drives me nuts is the jacob web-site, not sure who designed it but it is not the best. The JT3 is for the Jacobs chuck style mount 1/32-5/8".

This is a little trick that I picked up a few years ago that might help you out, well at least take some of the guess work out of your dilemma.

If you have an old 29 piece drill bit box with the sizes marked take your old chuck key and put it into each hole untill you get an exact fit, then you will know the size of the pin hole that the key will fit into. At least that information will narrow down the field of keys for you; You could call MSC or Grainger and take it from there.

i recently bought an old Enco drill press sans key. the same inscription was stamped on my chuck. i found a replacement at McMaster-Carr part number 3169A15. it works like a charm. hope this helps..

Hi - I know this is an old thread, but in case someone comes across this like I did...

The Ryobi 5/8" (5/16" pilot) chuck key sold at Home Depot fits perfectly. Model Number A10SK58.

I inherited my dad's old Enco drill press. I was going to get around to ordering one of the ones mentioned above, but was in Home Depot and thought "what the heck, I'll take a chance for $4."
